Greetings, dear friends of #dailyblog. The week is almost over and as a promise is a debt, today I come to tell you about one of the most emblematic and beautiful hills of Isla Margarita, "Matasiete". In another post I told you that I would tell you about this hill.

Saludos, queridos amigos de #dailyblog. Ya casi termina la semana y como lo prometido es deuda, vengo a hablarles hoy de uno de los cerros más emblemáticos y hermosos de Isla Margarita cerro ”Matasiete. En otra publicación les comenté que les contaría de este cerro.

I was deeply in love with it, from the first day I saw this great hill, for its great size and the variety of green tones that it possesses, thanks to its vegetation.
When I saw its beauty, I asked a local for its name, who told me its name and why they call it "Cerro Matasiete".

Quedé profundamente enamorado de él , desde el primer día que vi este gran cerro, por su gran tamaño y la variedad de tonos verdes que poses, gracias a su vegetación.
Al ver su belleza, pregunté su nombre a un lugareño, el cual me dijo su nombre y el porqué lo llaman "Cerro Matasiete".

I was told the history of this beautiful hill, and today I am going to tell it to you in a quicker and easier to understand way.
On Margarita Island, on July 31, 1817, in the area known as "Los Cocales," there was a battle, one of the longest that took place at the time, which was given the name "Matasiete" because in the middle of the battle, from the top of the hill, large stones were thrown and one of them killed seven royalist soldiers at once. This battle was the one that gave freedom to Margarita Island. For that reason, there should not be an islander who does not know the history in a rough way. This mountain as well as the Guayamuri hill are great natural reservoirs where great species of trees, birds and animals are found, some of them in danger of extinction and are not easy to find and see on the island.

Me contaron la historia de este hermoso cerro, y hoy se las voy a contar a ustedes de manera más rápida y fácil de entender.
En Isla Margarita, el 31 de julio de 1817, en el sector conocido como “Los Cocales,” se dio una batalla, una de las más largas que hubo en la época, a la cual le dieron el nombre "Matasiete" porque en medio de la batalla, desde lo alto del cerro, lanzaron grandes piedras y una de ellas mató a siete soldados realistas de una sola vez. Esta batalla fue la que le dio la libertad a la Isla de Margarita. Por esa razón, no debe haber un isleño que no sepa la historia a grosso modo. Este sero al igual que el cerro Guayamuri son grandes reservorios naturales dónde se encuentran grandes especies de árboles , aves y animales, algunos de ellos en peligro de extinción y no son fáciles de encontrar y ver en la isla.

Of course, I have told you a little bit of the story in broad strokes, as it was told to me.
Nowadays many people climb the hill to have an encounter with history and the beauty of nature. I want to climb it and I am going to make it one of my resolutions for this year. I love to see how beautiful and majestic this hill looks, for that reason I have to climb it to be able to appreciate more closely the indescribable beauty that surrounds it.
Anyway, dear friends, I want to climb this hill and see up close what the gaze from afar cannot see.

Claro, les he contado un poco la historia a grandes rasgos, como me la contaron a mí.
Hoy en día muchos suben el cerro para tener un encuentro con la historia y la belleza de la naturaleza. Yo quiero subirlo y me lo voy a proponer entre los propósitos de este año. Me encanta ver lo hermoso y majestuoso que se ve este cerro, por esa razón tengo que subirlo para poder apreciar más de cerca esa belleza indescriptible que lo envuelve.
En fin, queridos amigos, quiero subir este cerro y ver muy de cerca lo que la mirada desde lejos no puede ver.
