Help friends, welcome back to this week's edition of hive-reachout inleo initiative 16. I'm so happy to join this week. We have a very beautiful topic that says - The Free Gift of Nature.
Been a Nigerian guy, it has really been a very wonderful experience that we are surrounded with the beauty of my environment. The good thing I discovered is the fact that nature doesn't necessarily require us to pay for the air we breathe, for the water that actually and always sustain us and even the trees that keeps us from the heating sun. All these are free gift of nature that holds high value. But the big question is, do we always appreciate them?
Nigeria as a country is rich when it comes to diversity in the gifts of nature. We have natural wonders that tourist all around the world comes to visit. Wonders like the Zuma rock, Olumo Rock, and many more superb waterfalls like the Erin Ijesha and many more. All these I have mentioned are signs that the free gift of nature is what makes us unique as Nigerians.
Sometimes I wonder to see that all these gifts of nature like I said earlier comes freely to us. Nature always gives and gives abundantly. Let me first talk about the gift of rain and sunshine. Nigeria as we are are so blessed so much that we have a tropical climate which gives us this regular rainfall and needed sunshine. These two sustain our life in different ways. Farmers need the rain to grow their crops so that it will provide food for the nation as whole because without rain, there will not be harvest and if there is no harvest, there is no food to eat which a lot of Nigerians depend on.
I can also talk about the nature as a source of Healing and Relaxation for us also. There is this peace of mind that nature gives which is priceless. There are times I will sit under the shade of tree enjoying the feeling of relaxation and positivity of the mind, enjoying the fresh air which always reduce the stress of life. For me personally and based on my experience, nature always have a way to heal, healing both physically and even emotionally also. Decades ago, research even made me to understand that nature always have been used to heal our body in terms of herbal medicine. All these are drewn from the gift of natures from plants and even trees which have constantly created ailments.
I believe everyone of us have a responsibility to protect all the free gift of nature we have also. Even though it is given to us freely, we should still be able to take care of it adequately. We should take care of our forest, of our rivers, of the trees. We must understand that we can't just be taking away from nature without not even giving back to nature. Nature is a free gift of nature but must be held in high esteem by us. We need to not be selfish and make sure that we pay attention to the future generations coming. One of the things I have come to discover is we are not really mindful of our environment and this shows in even the way we relate with our environment sometimes.
We must come to a point all of us that we don't take nature for granted. Every blessed day, we should be grateful for the gifts of nature and the more we are grateful for the gift of nature, the more we will see the importance of giving back to nature. On several occasions, I usually wonder whether our world will be in a better place to be than now without nature. If you should actually look around, we are all surrounded with the free gift of nature and this makes our world a better place to be.
