CHILDHOOD MEMORIES // GOOD YOUNG DAYS

in Hive Reachout16 days ago (edited)

Most people look back to childhood and smile because for the most part, that time was filled with fun and no care for nothing else.
I always think to myself that I do not remember so much from when I was a child. Maybe in bits and pieces, I do. Or, if something as much as strikes me and jolts me mind to a certain moment, I could That said, do not expect a story. I mean, a single story on a moment.

You can bet that my childhood was great. I had the best of everything as my family could give. I was surrounded by good people and friends both in school and back at the neighbourhood. I had my fair share of playing although I did not play much. I remember most of the fun games we'd play back then anyway. Then, it was two things for me: reading a book or chilling with my pals.

My best memories were the ones we made at home. I grew up in a somewhat small space and we all couldn't avoid each other, so, somehow we were in one another's faces and that too, made us very very close knit.
My fondest memories from then were the times we, my family, sat around and ate together. It was so much fun having to all dig into a big plate. It was sometimes survival of the fittest, the one who can take bigger spoonfuls and eat faster. It was during that time that we made fun of one another or traded random gists. Very exciting. Oh, how can I forget that it was during the time that my parents bantered each other. Walahi, you may end up bursting your lungs with laughter if care is not taken.

Another one is of the times when we hold a mini-concert. Not like a service or something. Just, one of my brothers who likes to play the drums might start drumming and another would start to sing. Before you know it, the drummer would get glass cups or empty drink bottles with toothbrushes and distribute to everyone(my parents invluded) and imsyruct them what to beat. One or two would use their hands and before you know it, the house is going, 'boom boom boom'....literally.
The drumming and singing and dancing could go on for hours. You don't even want to know what kinds of songs we sing. As much as it is thrilling, it's also funny.

Another beautiful memory was those times, mostly in primary school, at the end of each term that I always always got an award in school for coming first in class. Back then, everyone always knew I would come first. No one took that from me. Oh, how it made my mum so proud to walk out with me and take snaps when I received the reward. She even began to receive personal reward for being the parent of the child who maintained the streak. You already know the little-big treat and treatment that I would enjoy that day and the days that followed, don't you?

There's so much bits and pieces of those good young days that I quite recall. Good times!
