Confidence is a feeling of trust in someone or something. Self-confidence is having faith in your skills, qualities, abilities, and judgment. Simply put, it means having faith in oneself.
Often times, self-confidence and self-esteem are confused for each other, but they are not the same.
Self-esteem is confidence in one's own worth . It implies how you value yourself and how you see and talk to yourself. While they may be of similar concept, they are not the same thing.
It is safe to say that nobody is without self-confidence because there are certain areas of your life or certain skills that you have, which you are confident in.
Now, let's dive into the things that can affect your self-confidence. Some of them are
• You've been thrown into a new or unknown situation.
• You are unsure of the outcome of a situation.
• You feel unprepared
•You keep thinking about your mistakes and failures.
• You feel you don't look your best.
• Fear of what others think of you.
It is important to know that people with high self-esteem could have low self-confidence, and people with low self-esteem may be confident in certain areas.
It is also worthy to note that self-confidence is not fixed. Some days you will feel very confident and other days your confidence will plummet.
I would waste no time writing about all the moments and things that make you feel insecure. Instead, here are tips to help you build your confidence.
• Look your best :When you feel like you look your best, you feel very good about yourself and, in turn tha build your confidence
• Talk to someone: This helps a lot of the time. Talking to someone who you know will listen to you and encourage you and help you fight back the negative energy and remind you of all the good things about you surely helps.
• Exercise :There's just something about working out that influences your confidence. Especially when you begin to feel lighter and toned and you start to sit with good postureyou subconsciously begin to feel more confident.
• Acquire knowledge in areas you are lacking in : Knowledge is power. The more you know, or do I say, the more information you possess or knowledge in your field that you possess, the more confident you become.
• Push yourself: Nobody becomes confident by staying in their comfort zone. Try something new. You may be nervous and even make mistakes, but, overtume, you will gain mastery, and that will boost your confidence
• No comparisons, please: Avoid comparing yourself to others if you want to boost your self-esteem and confidence. It is rather advisable to recognize your own strengths and to commend yourself for being excellent in those regards.
• Walk away from people who constantly put you down or make you feel insecure about yourself.
You don't have to be with people who discourage you, say demeaning things to you, or make you feel like you're not worth anything while you're helping yourself grow or working on your self-confidence. If you remain in such a toxic environment, you will only be taking a step forward, and Teo steps backward, and you know what that means. Walk away for your own wellbeing and never look back. You first.
• Be positive, speak positive : You must unlearn negative thoughts and always say positive words to yourself. Don't forget to practice gratitude, too.
None of these tips ro building your self-esteem and confidence is easy as written, but note, they are possible. And for you, for you wellbeing and for your stability, you should have no second thoughts before embarking on this ride.
