Family and friends are most important for every human. Life can be horrible if there are no family members and friends. One gets family with their birth, and it's beyond the control of humans as nobody can decide which family to be born. But in the case of friends, it's different as it can be chosen.
Without friends, life is boring. Friends are the colors of our life and make our life colorful and beautiful. The bond of friendship is magical. It says that happiness increases and sadness decreases when shared, and friends are those people with whom we share our thoughts. Friendship is like a journey, and being friends with someone can't be done in a single day. Most of the time we become friendly with those who have similar thoughts like us, but that doesn't mean we can't be friendly with those people who have different thoughts. But common interests make two people friendly easily.
It's true that friendship is a process, and we become friends automatically based on our common interests, but choosing the right friend is very important. In the past, the thoughts of people were less complex and pure, but in the current time, the thoughts of people are very complex, and trusting anyone is not so easy. There are many people who pretend to be our friends with sweet words. They can hide their selfish desires from us and wait for the right moment to take advantage of us. Many things can be exchanged in friendship, and it's normal, but becoming friends having the mentality to take advantage is not fair. They remain friendly to us in our good times, but in our bad times they leave us without thinking twice. Having such a kind of friend is very harmful for a person because, at a crucial time, this shows their true face and gives us a huge blow.
I have seen many friend circles. They always stay surrounded with lots of friends (as they think), but when it comes to crisis moments, they hardly find someone for help. They hardly share about their pain or secrets with friends who can understand them. I think it happens; they actually don't know the true meaning of friendship, and they don't have true friends either. In a lifetime, one or two true friends can be enough, and they are better than having a large friend circle. At least they can understand the thoughts, pains, or sufferings of friends. So many people are lonely at the end, even if they think they have many friends.
Let's come to my case. I am always careful to choose a friend, and I hardly consider anyone as my friend. It's my good luck that I have 7/8 true friends. I don't contact them all the time, but whenever I contact them, I feel like I talked to them yesterday, even if we talk after many days. That's the feeling of true friendship.
