Parental values and norms
Parental values are the guiding principles that parents hold regarding what is important in life Influencing how they raise their children and Interact with them. Common parental values include; honesty, respect, responsibility, compassion, hard work. These values are often instilled through direct teaching and modelling the behaviour of the child.
Teaching children how to respect their elders and peers helps them to build strong relationships in the society. They often learn the value of saying the truth by observing from their parents and older ones.
Children also learn to be responsible when their parents assign different task to them and emphasise on the importance of fulfilling their duties. Parents ought to teach their children to be kind, considerate and understanding others' feelings. Instilling the habit of dedication and persistence helps me to children to achieve their goals despite the challenges they face.
Norms on the other hand, refers to the the unwritten rules and expectation that guide parenting styles within a family. These norms can dictate how they show affection, resolve conflict and communicate.
These norms include; discipline, cultural and religious practices, gender roles and expectations, education and learning, social behaviour, and independence.
Parents set boundaries and rules to teach their children self control and good behaviour, afterwards they develop the importance of education intellectually. Instilling the act of prayers, studying the word of GOD and teaching manners and politeness helps children to integrate into society.
The influence of parental values and norms extends beyond the home. Children who grow up in environment where strong values are emphasized, often carry these principles into adulthood.

Children who are raised in environment devoid of strong parental values may exhibit behavioural issues, such as lack of respect or sense of responsibility. Also the absence of parental norms can lead to increased confusion in children. They may feel insecure without the stability that consistent value provides. Overall, failure to I still parental values and norms will not only affect the child but the community at large.
