As for me, it is very difficult for me to fall victim to an April Fool's prank when I already know it is the 1st of April. This is also because of the type of friends and family members I have, as they do not go to extreme lengths in pulling pranks on me. Unlike some people who put their lives on the line just to make a prank work and end up messing things up. However, I have successfully pranked someone before, and while it worked very well, the truth it revealed almost messed up things .Thankfully, we had to step in to make things right.

Joshua was a friend in our school lodge who was very fond of bringing different ladies to his house. He had a serious girlfriend whom everyone in the compound knew, and we usually helped Joshua keep his secret so she would not find out about his other affairs.
That April Fool's Day, my lodge mates and I plus his girlfriend who was around, decided to play a fast one on him. It was in the evening of that Friday, around 6:30 PM. Joshua was out, so we called him and told him that one of the ladies who had visited him frequently some months ago was around with an elderly man who claimed to be her father. They wanted to meet with Joshua because she was pregnant, and the worst part was that his main girlfriend was also around.
Normally, Joshua would have laughed out loud upon hearing such news, but because I was the one who made the call—and knowing there were certain things I did not joke about—he had to beg me to tell him the truth, hoping it was a prank. He was trying to doubt us, but then his girlfriend shouted at him over the phone in anger. I ended the call.
Suddenly, his girlfriend's phone rang. She did not pick up; instead, she cut off the call. He called again, and she cut it off once more. At that moment, we all burst into laughter because we knew he had fallen for the prank.
My phone rang again, and it was Joshua begging me to tell him the truth. I assured him that it was real and that the lady and her father were still waiting, insisting they must see him, even when we pleaded for them to leave and return the next day.
Before we knew it, we saw Joshua on his bike approaching at full speed into the compound. As soon as we saw his scary and serious face, we could not hold it any longer—we all laughed out loud, hailing his name and making a mockery of him. His face brightened up amidst the anger and laughter. He then picked up a long bamboo stick, which we used to hang clothes, and began chasing us around. He was angry but definitely relieved.

However, the prank sent a signal to his girlfriend about his lifestyle. Later that night, we heard a very loud and heated argument between him and his girlfriend, and we knew it was about the prank earlier. The girl could not take it. Well, Joshua knew the soft spot of his girlfriend, and he handled the situation that night.
ABOUT APRIL FOOLS DAY!
If it's kept on a mere prank, I mean not so deep, it's supposed to be fun and nothing more. The only thing is that people take it very extreme hence causing problems and damages aftermath.
