Celebrating Small Wins: My Journey to Self-Appreciation.

in Hive Reachout25 days ago

m I the only one who finds it hard to celebrate small wins, not to mention the big ones? I don't want to believe I'm the only one wearing these shoes. I'm that person who would ride someone else's party hard, but you'll hardly see me feeling great or being on cloud nine when it's my turn to celebrate mine.
My reason? "It's no biggie; anybody can achieve that much." But thank God for God, who has changed me recently. Loving yourself is celebrating yourself in your own way. I think I wrongly schooled myself about the concept of celebration when I was younger, largely due to misguided Christian doctrines. I don’t want to be seen as proud or flesh-driven, so I chose to be quiet about my achievements. This mindset made me lose the excitement that comes with celebrations over the years. Sincerely, you don't have to put up a grand ceremony before you can switch into that exciting mood that leaves lasting memories. You just have to choose to be happy for yourself, no matter how small the win is.

I've come to realize that celebrating small wins is a way of appreciating yourself, enhancing personal growth. It's about acknowledging one's efforts, no matter how small or big they appear. I'm lucky to have numerous photos capturing my perfect moments, so I'll share two moments that stood out.

###' The First Perfect Moment_

On this day, I received a certificate from the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), indicating I had satisfactorily completed my one-year mandatory service as a graduate. My heart couldn't contain my joy! The journey wasn't easy; there were thorns too. I felt frustrated with my posting and considered opting out, but my flatmates-turned-friends gave me moral support. We supported each other to the end.

As we parted ways, we reflected on our struggles: waking up on time, resuming work early, taking turns bathing, strolling to local markets, visiting the village dam, and sharing laughter. These memories made the achievement sweeter.

The Second Perfect Moment_

Guys, guess what this was all about? I got certified and licensed as a professional educator in the Nigeria Federation! Apparently, I registered for the exam during my penultimate year in school and I encouraged my friends to register too,of which they did. After the registration, the exam board took a long period of time just to scheduled our exams, almost everyone had given up their pays and moved on not until, we got emails that we've been scheduled for the exam. We'll, we did it and here we are flying with eagle's wings, lol.
I must say, sharing this win with friends, seeing the joy on their faces, made me realize I can be part of others' big days and my own. I corrected my mindset: "Not everyone can achieve that much; only a few intentional people can, and I'm proud to be one."

As I reflect on these experiences, I realize celebrating wins isn't just about personal achievement; it's about the journey. Embracing challenges, learning from setbacks, and growing as a person.

Moving forward, I'll commit to celebrating my wins, no matter how small, and stop downplaying my success. I encourage others to do the same, embracing the power of self-celebration and self-love.

I'll be inviting my bosses to join in writing about this prompt, I'm quite sure they'll do justice to it than I did. @storygoddess @moremoney28 and @mikechrist

This is a beautiful wrap of how you celebrated your small wins and to me, they are big wins as they lay a major foundation to your perspective about celebrating wins in life. True, it goes beyond the wins and a significant reflection of how the journey was, rough or smooth, the nostalgic moments we can brood upon. I congratulate you for both the NYSC and educational certification and also, being an instrument for motivating your friends to equally succeed in the certification. Do have a great week dear.

Exactly!
That's the summary of it all.

You too dear.
