ONE THING I WISH TO CHANGE IN MY LIFE : BREAKING THE HABIT OF LATE NIGHT SLEEP

I believe we all have at least one habit we wish to change, and if we take a closer look, sleeping late at night is a common struggle, especially in this era of social media. Hahaha! I know you’re guilty of this too, that’s why you’re smiling.

But don’t worry, my dear, you’re not alone, we are in this together!

For as long as I can remember, I have had the habit of staying up late. It started casually, watching one episode of a movie, then another, reading one chapter of a book and ending up trying to finish the entire thing in one night, or mindlessly scrolling through social media until it got too late (I know we are all guilty of this one). Over time, this pattern became a routine. Even on nights when I had nothing serious to do, I would still find myself staring at the ceiling, struggling to fall asleep.

I remember a particular night when I was on my phone until 4 a.m. When I finally went to bed, I woke up late around 7a.m, feeling completely drained, as if I had been in a fight all night and I still had to hurry up for work. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I developed a severe migraine that lasted for days, leading to a terrible fever.

When I went for a check-up and possible medical treatment, the doctor’s advice was simple, get enough sleep and rest more.

I followed this advice for a few weeks, and I saw great improvement. But before I knew it, the habit crept back in, and I was back to my late-night routine. Hahaha! It’s a funny but serious issue, and I truly hope to overcome it this year.

I have tried different ways to break this unhealthy habit, setting a fixed bedtime, spending less time on my phone at night, and avoiding caffeine in the evening. Some nights, I succeed, but other times, I fall back into the habit. However, I am determined to keep trying because I know that getting enough rest will help me do better in life.

If there’s one habit I would love to change right now, it is sleeping late at night.

So, are you guilty of this too? How do you handle yours, and what’s your advice? Let’s talk!

Thanks for reading, I am @nsigo1
