Well from in my introductorypost I made mentioned of being into music for about 12 years now, yeah that's really through and it's has not been easy at all especially when dealing with my fellow horn players other instruments players, let me just say musicians as a whole it's not always easy.
In my early days of music I work with some Afro, Reggae, Highlife and brass band musician.
I will tell you all for free it was both a nice and bitter experience. Most times I will come back without been paid, I will come back late at night to face security patrol team in town asking me lots of questions, At times I will come back promising myself never to go out because most times the person's that have the gig use to abscun with our payment, Mist time they will tell us they were not paid that the person is their family friend, their related or there are like one family they grew up tomorrow,
Hmmmm, the stories are very numerous,but there's this one I won't forget I went to play for a gig with a group of person's I think it's was a service of songs meeting, yeah.
Okay it's was a funeral of a highly respected person in that location.
This one here I was giving the contract to bring my fellow musician's. We arrive there a night before the Dee day, we performed very well, I made sure we play heavenly hymns and songs that sank deep to the spirit of everyone we received many accolades for a job well done.
Wait a minute I forgot to tell you guys that I was only given 5% of our payment left with 95%.
Since the person that contact me is a man of high Influence, rich e. t. c. I thought my payment won't be a problem. 😂😂😂😂
How I wished I knew, Dear friends from the previous day we were not properly taking care of, no food no water all this man could give us was alcoholic drinks, Even when I complained that we don't such he didn't care to listen, The team I took with me there became angry , they wer just attacking me with words, others we frowning at me others thought I have been paid heavily I just been wicked and self centered, some said I am selfish, I can't even recall all that was said to me. I kept mute that night think the next day will be better, Lo, and behold things were getting worst we finished or Gig by 12 noon but our host refused to attend to us , didn't even behave as if he knew me.
Huuuuh! the pressure on me was getting tensed the lion in my rouse up and felt like just walking into the man room and tear him apart, I have even forgot he said security guards all around him. When I was thinking on what to do him because it was already 4pm by my time, I remember a story my mom told some day that no matter how angry you are with someone that is higher than you, richer and elderly in age the best approach is silence then apply the soft tone communication, never give room for transfer of aggression. Besides if I do anything he's security men will through us out and we will lost the remaining balance.
To cut the long story short I paid the team members from my pocket and then waited for my host to attend to me and he finally come out by 10pm to pay me my money.
Well from that day I decided that payment be made before I going t any Gig and also I start walking alone most times than going with a team.
I thought I have gone pass the stage for some one to get me angry not until I got admission into higher school.
Boom!! I was the music director my God here I can tell you all for free that people are actually annoying, you will correct some one now, the next minute another person is doing same , like I don't understand I there dumb or something?
However , I have never use violence or harsh words to ever calm a situation, instead I involve a soft tone and highly level of language power.
I have never for one's tried be autocratic in my speech or actions for once.
I have never bullied my subordinate when am angry or fight authority when am angry or fight my business partners when angry neither have I responded with abusive words, instead I apply the soft tone principle which is .
"pls I want to go", Am done with my service permit me to go pls, For my subordinate " this thing you're doing is not speaking well of you" the younger won't have anything to learn from you if you continue like this.

You have good methods of managing anger, it's not easy but you're doing pretty well already. I also can relate to the same scenario you described above, most times after you're done rendering services, for them to service you back in return is always a problem. Well, I don't see anything wrong in the "pay before service" policy.
I'll like you to explore some few communities I think you'll like as a musician..
