The Embarrassing Moment

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing very well today and that your day is going very well too.

Embarrassment is inevitable; you must be embarrassed as a human being, be it by people or by situations. It is very inevitable to be embarrassed. There are times you may not see it coming, but it has to come, and you know you cannot help it because there is some embarrassment that happens even when you plan ahead of it. Sometimes we should accept embarrassment and move on with life. Sometimes embarrassment is always for growth.

I remember that while growing up with dad and mum, they were so overprotective of us, telling us that we were girls, so they did not want us to mess around with guys in the street or anywhere. So they would always tell us what time we should be in the house; mum would always tell us not to talk to any guy in the house or have anything to do with them.

Dad was very particular about this, so he always wanted to take us anywhere we wanted to go so that we would not have any opportunity to talk to any guy. It was so bad that if a female friend of ours was relating to a guy, they told us that we should not talk to them again.

So one day, mum, for the first time in her life, told me to go to the market and buy some food stuff. I think I was just ten. I left for the market, and when I opened the gate, I saw one of my classmates after a long while, and it was a boy. We were so happy to see ourselves after a long while, so we shook hands, since hugging a guy was taboo in our house. Thank God the market was close to the house and I could trek down there, so my classmate Tobi and I treked to the market.

After we were done with buying in the market, we also treked back to the house. On our way back, I sighted my dad afar, and I became so afraid, and at that point, I could not even tell my classmate to pretend as if we were not walking together. Before I was done thinking about what to do, my dad had reached us. And I was like, "Daddy, good morning afternoon." I did not even know what to say at that point. My dad gave a stern look and asked my classmate what he was doing with me. He even said that we did not go to the market; we went somewhere else. I was trying to show him what we go from the market, but it was to no avail. He ordered that I should get inside the house immediately. I felt so embarrassed and angry. When I went inside the house, mum was waiting for me too; she told me I went to sleep on the market because of a boy. I was really embarrassed in front of my friend, and I was also thinking of how my dad would treat my classmate outside.

There was nothing I did not do to let my parents believe that I didn't do anything, but it was to no avail. I felt so bad for the rest of the day.
