Drug abusers, the community, and the looming disaster.

I had newly moved to the apartment, and I noticed a few weird things in the compound, but I didn’t mind at first, because it was a house full of men, so I thought it was normal since all of us are hustlers, and knowing the kind of job they do, they hardly sleep in the middle of the night. Little did I know that…

After a brief travel from my new apartment, I returned home on that cloudy afternoon to relax after the stressful outing, however, the relaxation turned to a moment of rift settling between a man and a woman who I thought were in a relationship. Oh well, they were. Just that something changed.

After that day, it was from trouble to another. there was a particular guy in the house who was the sole cause of those troubles. He would go outside, cause trouble and run home, lock the gate from inside, and run to his room. Then, comes the never-ending bangs on the gate because they were ready to hurt him in return. Well, nobody would hear his voice until he got triggered to go and cause another trouble. For a long time, it was an unending cycle.

One day, on one of those fights, he was badly beaten, and I noticed another neighbour trying to tie him down. Maybe they were trying to prevent him from causing further hurt to himself was my thought. Well, it was something more.

After he was badly bruised and battered, he stopped troubling other people outside, and rather would wake up in the middle of the night and start raining curse words on I-wonder-who. He would talk and rake and scream until the morning and would sometimes beat pans and bowls making sure no one in the house had a peaceful sleep. I found it hard to cope at first, but somehow, I found a way around it.

One day, while I was wondering what could be wrong with him, I heard him scream at his brother, “where is my ice?” wait, what? Ice? On another day, the conversation was around colos (Colorado). A conversation? No, I mean a fight. It was a strong battle between brothers fighting over drugs.

Apparently, the guy is a drug addict, and he was already insane, but for some reasons unknown, his parents saw no reason to take him to the psychiatric. So, they nurtured him around the house hoping that one day, he would stop. Well, he did stop one day after he beat the hell out of his dad. Yes, you read right.

While I was thinking of what their next line of action would be, I suddenly didn’t see him around anymore. He had been taken to the psychiatric finally, I thought. Oh well, he was, but he returned home so soon that the peace of both the house, and the surroundings travelled for a long time.

I thought it was going to be a problem solvable with just him, but I returned home from a trip one day to see the group of boys the age of my “insane” neighbour exchanging puffs, that contained ice, colos, and more (from their conversation). In fact, my other two neighbours and their gang were also there celebrating what I don’t know with drugs. Oh, the family of the “insane” guy (he has three brothers plus his dad) were at the backyard having their puffs right there.

At that point, I knew that the community is not ready for the trouble that is looming as a result of drug abuse. A whole family is likely going to run mad after many years of uncontrolled drugs use, and there’s the gang of boys too that are likely going to spread into the society to cause as much havoc as possible blaming it on the fact that they they are not in their right state of mind. Well, they obviously will not be because of the effect of the drugs.

Is leaving that community an option? It's obviously not a happy life for you :( ...

I left there about a month ago. It took me that long because of financial incapacity, however, I switched from friends places till I was able to. Peace in that house was like a huge impossible ask. Lol.

Thank you very much for the concern and the curation.
