My Favourite Dish - It Tried to Kill Me Several Times
I love me some beans porridge. I hear that most men like it, but I think I'm the only person who has an obsession with that food.

My love for beans porridge started at a time when we had only beans in abundance at home, so my mum got creative with the menu. I remember one morning we had akara (bean cake) for breakfast, beans porridge for lunch, and moi-moi (bean pudding) for dinner.

Then, my mum began to cook beans with other foods. For example she cooked beans with maize, soft fresh maize; she cooked beans with sweet potato; another time she even cooked beans with guinea corn. To be fair, I hated beans at that time. All of us in the house did, for obvious reasons. But what could we have done? We ate whatever was available.

During that period, I decided to experiment with some leftover bean porridge. I caught fish with my friends one afternoon at a nearby murky pond. We dressed and roasted the fish and I took my share home. At home, as I was warming my leftover porridge over a fire I made with dried twigs that I gathered from the surrounding thicket, it occured to me to mince the fish into the food. I then added pepper and a pinch of seasoning… okay... I'm lying, t wasn't a pinch of seasoning. It was quite a handful. I loved the taste of the food.

This isn't the dish, but it looked like this to me, so I liked it. I shot this.

Two hours after I'd devoured my delicious meal, I went to play football with my friends. I suddenly began to hear my stomach rumble. I knew then that a storm was coming, but I dismissed it as the usual onslaught of gas that comes with eating beans. I played on. I shouldn't have.

Someone kicked the ball into a nearby bush and I ran to pick it up, only that I wasn't really after the ball. When a couple of minutes passed and I didn't bring the ball back, other boys came after me, but what they heard made them run back. It was the end of our football that day. They laughed so much that we all forgot the ball in the bush till the following day. But did that make me desist from customising my bean porridge? No. I only tried to be smarter with the ingredients and I didn't have a repeat of that episode till I got to the university. I'll tell you about it another time.

I'll see you another time.

You think you're obsessed with beans??
Have you met @supernova004? Man is the god of beans.😅 I've never seen anyone who loves it as he does. You both are in the same class then.
Me, I don't like it. But I eat it every once a while, though.

Did you say @supernova004 is the god of beans? That should be my title. Please, stop saying you don't like beans out loud. I just heard on the down low that people who don't like beans may no go to heaven😂😉

She said it right. I am. You can be my deputy.😂

Pay no attention to that girl. She just lacks good taste.

Ah! I already saw the post in which you serenaded beans. Still I am in contention with you for that too title.😂

I think I know allot of guys that also love beans too, I am one of them although where I am currently doesn't warrant me to cook that at home..
I love Akara and pap so much and you got me salivating already with the first photo🥹

Yeah, and beans is not that popular among restaurateurs in this parts.

Akara and pap is what God's people will have for breakfast in heaven on Saturday mornings. It is hallowed😂
