1 year ago I took on, together with @cvnuitter, the self-construction of our Green Home, an ecological and intelligent house. Our project is Vida Verde where @cvnuitter has already been talking about our ideas of sustainable architecture in past publications on his Hive profile.
Render Proyecto Hogar Verde
We are currently carrying out several operations at the same time. We are making swing doors, expanding our bathroom and dressing room, and renovating our small business, which is an Agro Café.
So all this has meant a lot of effort and dedication on the part of both of us to be able to do it in record time and trying to optimize resources.
There is a high percentage of recycling in materials that we have used for this architectural design, it has not been easy when you have traditional construction styles in your mind. Here in Venezuela there is a heritage of brutalist construction, after the Second World War many Spanish and Italian migrants arrived and saw the opportunity to dedicate themselves to the construction trade. Cement, iron rods, sand were the ideal materials to make fashionable.
Being realistic in our construction we have recycled but there are certain construction regulations that we cannot ignore, especially for our safety. We have made the bases under a soil study of the site, with the options to make bases at a safe depth that allows stability for the construction we are doing.
Among the recycled materials are structural tubes of different sizes, rods, wood to make the boxing of the bases, sand and stones, with this we have been able to give these materials a second chance to be part of our sustainable project, and we have reduced the use of many others because the main structure is a maritime container that we are transforming into our definitive home.
These bases are the extension that the back part of our container will have, where after designing we located the bathroom and dressing room. This has a dimension of 4.20 meters long and 1.73 meters deep, this space will be divided into two, in one sector there will be the sink, toilet and shower, while the other sector will be a closet and space for dressing.
Cabillas recicladas para las bases
Currently we are in the stage of construction of the bases to then place the floor, which is a panel of electro-welded mesh with anime (we also recycle it) after completing this phase we will have to do the sanitary drainage installation work which will be connected to a system of biodigesters and biogas.
For the construction of these bases we have used 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch rebar. Which have a shoe with a grill, the pile will rise to the height of the two columns where the maritime container is perched, as it remains at the same height we will have a perfectly level floor.
In this operation, @cvnuitter appears, who designed this piece and together we put it together.
First we took the measurements of the rods to cut them, then we proceeded to bend the corners of the rods for the pile, then we cut and folded the bottom part of the footing to make the grill, and finally we made the stirrups that are arranged at 10 and 20 centimeters to reinforce the pile.
After having all the pieces cut and folded to size, we present them in the hole that we dug a few days before heavy rains will begin, in order to stake out and measure and once the bases are ready, they can rest in the middle of each of the columns.
Today we mixed some cement to place on the grill part and tomorrow we will continue with the manufacture of the wooden box and in 2 days we will be able to continue with the foundation. So stay tuned because this is just beginning.
Finally, I would like to clarify that we are not construction experts but we have great enthusiasm for self-building our home. @cvnuitter is responsible for doing a lot of research on the Internet about different construction methods to achieve our goals. We also know that not everyone uses the same length units so we hope you can still appreciate what we do.
If you have any suggestions you want to make to us regarding our project, you are welcome in the comments section.
Vida Verde is a project which we have designed together with two wonderful Architects. Alejandro Haiek and Alejandro Vallejo. In which we have been able, through collaborative sessions, to design this space of our dreams where sustainability is the center of attention.

Thanks for getting here
Until next time
Wow this is simply great and how good that you are in Venezuela, I thought that projects like this were not viable in our country, but you are changing my way of thinking.
I will be watching this construction.
How nice, you are building yourselves, it must be exciting to build something from scratch with your own effort. I'm sure it's going to look great.
The design is beautiful.
@aplusd
I love to see this publication in a few more years we will see this photographic record, we will enjoy and it will make us smile 😃😉
Así es , todo esfuerzo conlleva a la alegría 🤩 y sé que esas sonrisas serán bienvenidas 😍 Gracias por hacerme parte de esta gran idea
Wow, this is so cool, congratulations for this project and for taking a sustainable and good project with our planet, I will be attentive to the progress.
Muchas gracias por llegar hasta aquí .. subimos el video de cómo hicimos todo el proceso de fabricar la primera base
