Visiting historical sites that are still preserved in my city through time is something that I am very passionate about and this visit I made to the Cuadra de Bolívar as it is called today helped me to remember beautiful moments that I lived in this place for 12 years when I belonged to the tourist police of Caracas.
Cuadra de Bolívar
Visitar los sitios históricos que aún se conservan en mi ciudad a través del tiempo es algo que me apasiona muchisimo y esta visita que hice a la Cuadra de Bolívar como se le llama actualmente me sirvió para recordar momentos bonitos que viví en este lugar durante 12 años cuando pertenecí a la policía turística de Caracas.
La Cuadra de Bolivar is located in the southern part of the capital of the country, towards the Santa Teresa parish, in Quinta Crespo to be more exact.
This fifth house belonged to the family of our liberator, it was built by them to have a space for retirement, rest, distraction.
La cuadra de Bolívar se encuentra en la parte sur de la capital del pais, hacia la parroquia Santa Teresa, en quinta Crespo para ser más exactos.
Esta casa quinta pertenecía a la familia de nuestro libertador, fue construida por ellos para tener un espacio para el retiro, el descanso, la distracción.
The Bolívar family was one of the wealthiest families in Venezuela and had many properties like this one in various parts of the country. In fact they had so much money that they made their own water pipelines from their mother's house in the center of Caracas to the hacienda, as it was pure spring water. To give you an example of the distance, it is more or less 10 kilometers.
La familia Bolívar era una de las familias más pudientes de Venezuela y tenían muchas propiedades como esta en varias partes del pais. De hecho tenían tanto dinero que hicieron sus propios ductos de agua desde la casa materna en el centro de Caracas hasta la hacienda, ya que era agua pura de manantial. Para darles un ejemplo de la distancia son más o menos 10 kilómetros.
In this hacienda was where Simon Bolivar played with his brothers, learned to ride horses and received education from the teacher Andres Bello and enjoyed large and elegant Spanish style parties.
Its style is colonial, it was surrounded by sugar cane crops, it had the famous Guaire river clean and beautiful passing very close to the house of what is now only a complete block and the rest became cement and nothing else.
En esta hacienda fue donde Simón Bolívar jugó con sus hermanos, aprendió a montar caballo y recibió la educación por parte del maestro Andrés Bello y disfruto de grandes y elegantes fiestas al estilo español.
Su estilo es colonial, estaba rodeada de cultivos de caña de azúcar, tenía el famoso rio Guaire limpio y hermoso pasando muy cerca de la casa de lo que ahora hoy solo queda una cuadra completa y lo demás se volvió cemento y nada más.
Large structures surround the block, huge buildings and a lot of commerce since very close to that house is the famous Quinta Crespo market. Grandes estructuras rodean la manzana, enormes edificios y mucho comercio ya que muy cerca de esa casa queda el famoso mercado de quinta crespo. Quieren que les diga algo antes de continuar, me dio tristeza y pena como venezolana mostrar la parte frontal de la casa ya que está sucia y descuidada.
But going beyond the dust and pollution that surrounds the house I can only say that when you go through those big wooden doors and walk those terracotta corridors torn by the coming and going of time you feel the nostalgia of what this place once was.
Pero yéndonos más allá del polvo y la contaminación que rodean la casa yo solo puedo decir que cuando atraviesas esas grandes puertas de madera y caminas esos pasillos de terracota rasgada por el ir y venir del tiempo se siente la nostalgia de lo que un día fue este lugar.
When I worked there, it was cleaner, cleaner, there were people in charge of cleaning more often and the tour guides were more careful in their presentation.
Cuando trabajé allí estaba más cuidado, más limpio, habia gente encargada de limpiar más seguido y los guías turísticos se esmeraban más en su presentación.
I always loved the kitchen, where I spent long periods of time contemplating every detail, every pot, every stone, the fireplace and I imagined the slaves cooking their stews there.
De la casa toda la vida me encantó la cocina, allí me la pasaba largos ratos contemplando cada detalle, cada olla, cada piedra, la chimenea y me imaginaba a las esclavas cocinando allí sus guisos.
There is also a patio of light that was in charge of giving natural light to all the rooms, as we remember in those times of the colony there was no electricity yet.
Tambièn hay un patio de luz que era el encargado de dar luz natural a todas las habitaciones, como recordaremos en esos tiempos de la colonia no habia luz eléctrica aun.
Another large and beautiful courtyard is that of the stables, its floors are all made of stone and in the center there is a large fountain or water spillway where the horses drank, bathed and more.
Also preserved are many of the blacksmith's tools that were used to sow the land or take care of the horses.
Otro de los patios grandes y hermosos es el de las caballerizas, sus pisos son todos de piedra y en el centro tiene una gran fuente o vertedero de agua donde bebían los caballos, los bañaban y más.
Tambièn se conservan muchas de las herramientas del herrero que utilizaban para sembrar la tierra o cuidar los caballos.
The gardens still have potential, they are beautiful and the large palm trees give a special touch in the middle of the city.
Los jardines aún tienen potencial, son lindos y sus grandes palmas le dan un toque especial en medio de la ciudad.
The truth is that I made a short tour and I only remembered beautiful moments of when I worked in that place, I remembered people, coworkers and much more. What a pity that in those years there was no cell phone, otherwise I would have shown pictures of those years when I was so happy.
La verdad es que hice un corto recorrido y solo recordé momentos bonitos de cuando trabajé en ese lugar, recordé personas, compañeros de trabajo y mucho más. Que lastima que en esos años no habia celular sino hubiese mostrado fotos de aquellos años en los que fui tan feliz.

Me gusta como esos lugares nos conectan con nuestro pasado, acá en mi país también hay muchos sitios históricos que me gusta visitar y que hay que luchar por mantener ya que son nuestro patrimonio 👍

A photo with an important history, everything looks very well preserved and you took very good shots showing the design of those times.
Bolivar's house reminds me of houses left over from Dutch colonialism in Kotaku. the architectural design is almost similar @carolinacardoza

Overall, the thing that really caught my attention was the floor. I like the floor made of small stones arranged neatly, I like the tile model, also the paving block model and also the neat large crushed stones. All very artsy.
Greetings friend, I love houses with this type of design, they always have many stories to tell, despite the years it is preserved in very good condition, the garden and the kitchen look great.
