This is the majestic Los Precursores monument

Bodegón de Sevilla - A beautiful abandoned buildingun título (3).jpg

One of the goals I always had in this community, was to have the possibility to travel to other cities in Venezuela to record the best buildings of architectural interest, I think that in my city there is not much more to show, but I will continue looking in every corner, I know that something will appear gradually. The truth is that I already mentioned in my previous post that I had traveled to the city of Caracas, capital of my country, and I had the opportunity to visit some good places. Caracas is a large city with thousands of buildings, so I would have to spend weeks there to capture everything, but for now I will show you only what I was able to photograph.

Going to Caracas through the regional highway from downtown and once you enter the Valle-Coche highway, one of the first attractions we can find is the Paseo Los Próceres, a large space guarded by the military where you can find statues and monuments everywhere. It is also a place where military and protocol parades take place and there is also a military school. And well, as part of the Paseo Los Próceres is the monument Los Precursores which is precisely the structure or complex of structures that I will share with you today.

So, as you could see in the previous photos, the monument is characterized mainly by having a large white obelisk which seems to be made of marble, something that caught my attention is the texture or relief that has horizontal stripes and different shades of colors. There is also a large statue in which you can see an Indian mounted on a horse, the Indian is guarded by four lions, two on each side.

In the back part of the monument there is a large mural in which figures of the fantasy of the sea are observed, there are like species of mermaids or nymphs and other marine elements. This is a very particular mural because considering that the monument is characterized or was made in honor of important figures of the independence of this country, I do not understand what relation would have elements of mythologies of other cultures, but I suppose that there must be a reason that I do not know.

Towards the front of the monument there are other spaces, there are stairs that lead to a lower level in which we can see 6 figures carrying different types of weapons I guess alluding to those used in the wars of independence. Between each figure on a small wall, there are other figures in which historical moments are appreciated as the signing of the act of independence, for example. I have the impression that these 6 figures of militiamen are also guarding the Indian on his horse which is at the top.

Another aspect that I loved about the monument Los Precursores, is the large pool or rectangular water fountain that lies in front of the statues, this is in perfect maintenance and the water is very clean and clear, it reflects the shadows of the two lines of palm trees which are on the sides very well organized, this is certainly a space that visually I loved and I of course took the opportunity to take some pictures.

In the surroundings of the monument there are gardens and water fountains where visitors can stroll and rest, the large trees provide shade and fresh air. Something that characterizes these gardens are the figures of marine beings that seem to be children riding dolphins. There are also an abundance of what appear to be giant vases (or at least that is my interpretation) which visually adorn the place and give elegance to the gardens.

Nearby there is an additional monument called Plaza Monumental Ayacucho, this is characterized by 3 rectangular structures that serve as murals with images of South America, the sun and the faces of two heroes of the country, there are also important phrases of the Liberator Simon Bolivar and General Antonio Jose de Sucre. I must say that this seems to be a square with a simple monument, but I particularly loved it.

So you could see images of the monument Los Precursores, a place in Caracas that is worth visiting at least once and that gave me nice feelings, it gave me great satisfaction to have known it and of course it is a pleasure to show it to all of you through this community. See you soon!

Beautiful pictures @dinaaczib, the monument to the proceres has a beautiful design, I like the sculptures and the surrounding columns, but definitely my favorite part is the pool with the palm trees around, the view is really lovely.

Thanks for sharing a complete and historical and tour of this outstanding monument.

Greetings!
