Hello Hive!
Many years ago, my friend asked me to help her decorate her flat. It was a one-bedroom apartment in a busy urban area back in Dubai. Some of the furniture were existing when she moved in provided by the company she was working for.
One of the rules in the building was to never remove that chandelier. It came with the apartment.
With a fresh coat of grey paint that we purchased from the hardware, the dining area changed.
There was just far too much beige. We created a gallery wall in the dining space to match the existing furniture while toning down all existing cream-colored walls.
The owner is a frequent traveler working in the airline industry. We chose some of her personal travel photos with some of mine and had them printed in black & white at a local printer.
What I love about this space is the versatility of the bar counter that works great as a buffet surface during parties. The owner can entertain guests while serving and preparing in the kitchen.
We purchased mismatched chairs for her dining from the discounted section of a furniture shop selling pieces that were discontinued.
The design objective is to create a relaxing space where she can unwind after a tiring flight and have enough space to entertain friends. It's for this reason that we chose an expandable dining table.
Before:
We haven't purchased an area rug here yet when we took this photo. We eventually found a lush silk area rug from Merinos. The pillows and striped footstool were from THE One Fusion store. We moved the existing full-length mirror and placed it leaning on the wall next to the sofa to conceal power, internet, and telephone points.
After:
I had great fun decorating her place without breaking the bank. Sometimes all we need to do is re-arrange existing furniture around. A can of grey paint, a few throw cushions, bargain mismatched chairs, a few home accessories, and a round pouf on sale et voila.
This was my friend's first apartment. Since then she has asked me to decorate each of her flat every time she moved and eventually her own house in the U.S. many years later.

So beautiful maintenance 😻
Great thanks @yogeshbatt 🙂
That amazing colour scheme brings cozyness and comfy feel to the room. I loved the way the frames were arranged on the wall.
Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot to hear that. 😊
This is a truly elegant interior renovation job with a touch of high class! I love how you combined the neutral color themes with the accents and how all the spaces with its furniture, fixtures, and artworks are organized. Your project will definitely qualify for a great feature in an architecture or design magazine. Excellent work Arni!😀
Wow, it means a lot to hear that. Thank you 😀
