Hello archi lovers!
Here again, looking at architecture that catches our attention, and we can find it almost anywhere. That's what happened to me with a small local church, in a neighborhood in the Spanish city of Valencia, named Parroquia de San Pascual Baylón, which is almost hidden, well inside a small courtyard, and only if you walk along that street and look to one side you see it.
I have spent some time there and I have always liked it because sometimes the façade has been completely covered by ivy, and that imposing vegetation made it more special. But now without it, we can really appreciate the façade as it is, which is not always possible, and as I happened to be there in time I decided to go in.
Now we can appreciate its details more closely but with the Christmas decorations still present, the strings of lights and a large festive wreath with large golden balls on the arch of the door. It is a very simple and sober church in reality, and if we look closely we can see some details of deterioration, but it still maintains a charming touch in that inner courtyard that makes all the noise from the street stay there, and suddenly with just a few steps, we feel in a haven of peace, spiritual peace?
We enter and look at the sides of the entrance area, where there are already important elements. A large painting over a baptismal font that is perhaps only used on certain occasions. And a statue slightly illuminated from behind at the top that we were not expecting.
We look inside and see some interesting things, lots of large paintings and a strange ceiling with wooden beams in a grid pattern. It is not something so usual in a church, but this is a modest church, which is still charming, especially with the upper round windows with colored glass, which are not very visible due to the intense sunlight, but are beautiful.
It is very quiet and there are few people, it is calm. So we look at the great variety of paintings, the decorative arches on the walls, the candelabras and to the left near the door a small alternative altar, with the cross and next to it there is a Christmas nativity scene that we like very much, behind the glass we can see the anteroom that we saw before.
We take a last general look at the central altar, but we do not get too close out of respect at that moment. And we also look more closely at some of those paintings, which have many details in their intense scenes.
Back in the anteroom we notice that the ceiling is also made up of wooden beams in the shape of a grid but wider, with a surprisingly modern appearance that stands out from the rest of the construction, from the large central lamp and especially from the large entrance door which has the coat of arms or symbol of the city of Valencia.
We leave passing under the large ornamental crown again, although we know that they will soon remove it and perhaps now they will let the ivy that covers the wall grow again. It gives it another unique touch and also covers up some damage such as that of one of the columns, but we will have to pass through this small space again in a street in Valencia where you do not expect it...
Let's see what else we see and discover around the city...
Wow!
Seen few churches with this type of building and they're ancient ones. They've lasted for year are still gonna stay more in many years to come.
Yeah they were built a lot of time ago, like they are always there and they will last... the most durable buildings in fact! And all have some charming atmosphere really.
Happy day!

It is a very beautiful church, sober and elegant, the details of the light both in the chandeliers and in the circular windows look splendid. Thank you for bringing it to the community. @duvinca
Yeah I also like the circular colorful windows, it gives a special touch to this sober building but as you say also elegant and full of history. Thanks a lot! Happy day!

Though hidden in a small courtyard, this humble church is still incredibly beautiful. With its modest size, I thought at first that it was a chapel. The interior space simply fascinates me specifically on how the round clerestory windows are strategically positioned on the upper walls to allow natural light to illuminate the inside without causing unnecessary glare to the eyes.
Despite its long and narrow layout, the high ceiling compensates for it and makes the entire chamber visually larger. Impressive discovery @duvinca! ☺️

Thanks my friend! I like paying attention to these kind of places with surprising elements and interesting architecture and churches are always a good choice. In addition I like discovering others small gems not so popular but present in lives of many people who live there. I know this church, I remember to watch the facade while passing or in the bus, there is a stop almost in front of this courtyard, so I though that it is the moment to highlight this nice church with many beautiful items! 😍
A small but aesthetically appealing church this is @duvinca. I'm amazed at the stark contrast between its rustic exterior facade compared to its clean, crisp, and contemporary interior theme. Nevertheless, the entire architecture still radiates with a heavenly atmosphere suitable for sacred sites. ☺️

Many times the exterior visual makes us think the place could be interesting or not but it's better not to make any judgment before entering and just feeling surprised by an amazing and unexpected discovery! 😀
I am not a religious person at all, but it is all part of our history and so interesting. Not being funny to anyone out there but religous buildings look so amazing compared to many others.
I think the fact that they carry so much history is wonderful in it's self.
If people can draw spiritual awareness from it is also good.
@duvinca have a blessed day

The history behind every church never sees to amaze me. The buildings have seen so much and keep doing so. Thanks for sharing
Yep churches are fascinating buildings because inside you can find history and architecture, beauty, calm and spiritual moments. In any case they seem to be there always, they resist time and many events and we should value them and appreciate details and the atmosphere that give us!
Thanks to you for the kind comment!

You are very welcome 🤗
The architecture and design of Catholic churches never cease to surprise us, how much history does this small church have, and then inside the dimensions look bigger than I thought, excellent tour friend
Absolutely right, those churches, small or big ones always surprise us. I like observing the details and they are surviving during decades and centuries and there is a lot of history between their walls. So if I find any, no matter how humbled it is I stop and appreciate such peaceful atmosphere 😌 💖
Thanks a lot, have a wonderful day!

Hello friend, the facade of the church has a great design, I like the columns on the sides of the door and the altar at the top of the door where the sculpture of St. Paschal is, the interior of the church is simply spectacular, I loved the Bethlehem.
Happy weekend!
