Hello my dear friends…
Yesterday, i went to a hospital with my husband because my husband has an appointment with an orthodontist. We went to the hospital for the first time and i was amazed with the hospital. Sadly, i didnt have the time to take the pictures of the hospital building but i manage to get some part of it. This what makes it interesting. Living in Indonesia which moeslim as the majority of the resident, seeing a mosque in a public space is something regular. However, most of place will have a smaller mosque and its usually attached to the main building. For example, having one room in every floor for prayer space is something so common. Having a full big mosque in hospital is something i have never seen before. At least, i believe we dont have something like this in my city. So, when its time to pray and me and my husband looking for the prayer space, we were surprised when the security told us they have a mosque just right beside the hospital building (still within the same area). When we arrive there, we were even more shocked at how big it is. If you’re having the same knowledge as me, you will be shocked too because hospital usually didn’t put much thought towards their prayer space. Usually, it will be just somewhat acceptable and clean but never fully decorated and thoughtful about the design like this. From the first picture i attach, we can see the glimpse at how big it is, right? Sadly, the path to that area is non accessible so i cant capture a better picture. The hospital building is the one right in the left side, so we can see how close they’re.
The name of the Mosque is Masjid An - Nur. Nur means light.
This is one of my most favorite pictures that i took at that time. Its the tower of the mosque. Living my whole life as a moeslim i still didnt know the meaning behind this tower but i know that it always makes the mosque looks prettier. I saw so many mosque tower in my life but i belive that this is the first time that i saw this design. First of all, i need to appreciate the architect because they manage to follow the color trend. Before, the tower always painted with the green color as islam is related to that color a lot, but this one using a very pretty light grey color combined with broken white and some dark grey to accentuate the details and makes it into a “shadow” effect. In the bottom, there’re also a beige color which can be seen in the mosque building too. I love that they use the same primary color for the whole mosque makes them looks tune in harmony. In the very top of the tower, remind me of chess pawn. I like it a lot.
This is some of pictures that i can take from the front. As we can see it was quite big just from the entrance and the big window. Big window always makes the building looks more luxurious. When we see from the outside, the window looks like its in dark grey color. I think there has a hint of green too in there. I like that they choose that color rather than the full dark black because it matches with the primary color of the building.
The mosque is so big to the point that we have to use the stairs downstairs to go for wudhu and toilet. I didnt take the pictures of the area because its full of ladies who open their hijab since its a woman area. Anyway, the wudhu and toilet for ladies and the gentlemen located in totally two opposite site and there’s no way we can see or in contact with each other which really a thoughtful design from the architect. The ladies doesnt have to worry when they’re opened their hijab.
This is what the big window looks like on the inside.
Some of the details before we enter the prayer room. I love the details in the ceiling. Its somehow looks like flower that i drew a lot when i was in elementary school as it was the only flower i can draw, dont even know the name of the flower. Its the same pattern through the whole area outside of the prayer room. This kind of details that makes me think that they’re so thoughtful and throughout. They dont have to do this yet they make it and eventhough this is something that we can only see when we’re inside of the mosque and look up. The thing is, many people sit in the outer area of the prayer room and they’re naturally sit on the floor. So, sitting in the cold floor after praying while looking at the peaceful looking ceiling is such a calm way to spend our time.
Last but not least, its the prayer room. Gosh i love the whole design of the prayer room because it looks so elegant and luxurious. The ceiling is fantastic. I love the design near the chandelier, and lets not not talk about chandelier because a chandelier in a spacious space is a must have, especially if we’re going for the luxurious vibe of architecture. I love that they make a space around the chandelier because that gives off more effect to how the chandelier looks like. I think the mimbar area looks amazing too but sadly i cant see them nor i can take pictures of them since its in gentleman’s area in front and the divider between the two gender’s area is quite high so what i can put here in this post is what i can see. You can see the divider in the 4th pics in this section. I want to sneak a peak to what the mimbar looks like but since its still filled with a lot of people i cant do that, i bet i will get scold if i do that. I asked my husband to take some pictures but all of them are blurry to the point that we cant see anything, so i dont attach them as i cant even tell what it is.

Cheers @firayumni, you are most welcome! 😀
That's pretty amazing thing because I have never heard any shrines built in hospital. Entrance door and woindows designs truly fantastic. Also wall designs and ceiling designs elegant. Prayers room abolutely luxurious. Beautiful architectural design collection @firayumni.
Its really luxurious and this is the first time i have seen a big mosque inside of a hospital like that.
Awesome discovery @firayumni! You must be a naturally curious person, right? haha 😁. I'm glad your explorations have led you to a treasure of sacred architecture inside the most unlikely of places - a hospital! And a massive one for that matter! 👍😊
Have you encountered other uncommon or peculiar locations of mosques in the past?
I have never seen a mosque with this size inside of another area, maybe university but it’s understandable because university usually have size of a district itself while this hospital is not so big so its surprising that they build such a big mosque inside.
Okay I see @firayumni. I'll be surprised as well if I was in your place. Thanks for this interesting architectural find. 😊
Such a beautiful outlook..
