My father is an architect and contractor, he currently has a client who is a retiree from the United States. The client is a pure Filipino who had lived in the US most of his life and is now returning to the country for retirement. He is from the north but decided to live in the Visayas, Bohol specifically. His first choice was Siargao but after staying there for about a month, he realized that he can't live away from hospitals, banks, and other establishments thus he tried living in Bohol and he fell in love with the island.
Soon, after looking around, he found a cliff land in Larapan, Jagna. I am not sure how he met my father but they just met and soon partnered for his dream retirement house. It's a challenging location, it was like a cliff forest at first but eventually, with the help of the many workers, they cleared the location, the boulders of rocks were also suited for house building and after a few months, the house came into realization.
Before the house was completed, it went through a couple of tests, one of the biggest tests was Typhoon Odette. The house is facing the ocean, it has a great view of Siquijor Island and its roofing is made of Cogon but thankfully, it survived the typhoon, leaving the roof almost as if there was no typhoon that had passed by. The client loves rough design and he also loves plants, he was a landscaper in the US according to my father. Currently, his plants are thriving and soon, he will make a huge garden from the road down to his fish pond.
Without power for months, it slowed the construction but it was finished after a lot of ripraps were done, they even experienced some landslides near the ocean so they had to do another set of riprap in that part. The client is not yet done though as he still has a lot of plans like buying the next land and building a resort.
When the house was completed, the client also set up a workers' appreciation day where he hired some catering, set up fun games, and gave gifts in kind and cash. He is really a thoughtful and very generous client! His family is still in the United States but has already visited the project pre-Odette. They will soon return and plan the future cliff resort!

Modern bahay kubo. Cogon grass roofing, many has lost the art of it in my place. Most of the houses have tin roofing nowadays.
totoo.. it's nice actually but there are many things to consider din pag ganito ang roofing.. but indi talaga sya mainit..

Hi @junebride, a very beautiful place to settle down with the family and enjoy retirement, you will surely spend pleasant moments in such a lovely place; just as the song says: At the sea life is tastier.
Blessings!

Hi @junebride !!A really beautiful project is ideal for a good life in the middle of nature with visits in that island.
The details of the architecture of your country stand out, the client should be super happy.
