Oh, I see, thank you for that info :) That makes sense! So far I took photographs of the Northern Lights twice - in Northern Norway near Tromso in February (that's my most Northern point I've ever been) and in the Western parts of Iceland in the beginning of September, I think, or late August, that's quite unusual though. I have friends who live in Scotland and they say sometimes they observe them as well. From what I see on the maps, Cold Lake Alberta is at about the same latitude :)

Yeah it's not a simple task to view them really. Between going way up North and also getting away from the lights of towns and cities. Quite challenging. It's great that you have seen them already though.
