Good friends, I want to show you a Tourist and Cultural Recreational Center called La Cecilia, located on 5th Avenue between 110th and 112th Streets, Miramar, Playa. It is one of the centers that exist in Havana that every time we hear it mentioned, we immediately think of Cuban music, party and dance, because it is one of the open halls (not roofed) of the city where young people like to attend because of the kind of call it makes.

I was always curious about it because its name, in my mind, was associated with the beautiful Cuban costumbrista novel Cecilia Valdez, written by the great Cirilo Villaverde in the 19th century. Well, a few days ago I had the opportunity to go to this day center for a work meeting in one of its reserved areas and I was able to discover that La Cecilia is more than just a dance hall for young people.

It has two entrances, one on 5th Avenue, which the workers told me is the main entrance, but since it is on a fast avenue, almost everyone enters through 112th Street, next to the parking lot.
The main entrance has a facade that resembles a house of past centuries where there is a small portal with tinajones on both sides with planted plants, it is an ornament that characterizes the colonial era in Cuba, as well as its roof covered with ceramic tiles. The entrance door is made of wood with a very nice upper frame of turned balusters, on the sides well separated from the door there are small latticed windows with upper and lower ornaments with beautiful stained glass windows.

In the interior, it is like a country estate with abundant vegetation, many arecas, royal palms, poplars, etc. To the right, along a ceramic path, one arrives at an enormous painting with reliefs, of a barouche with two ladies seated in period dresses, pulled by a horse mounted by its rickshawman. This painting and the questions made to the workers of the place made me reaffirm my linking of the name of the center with Cecilia Valdez of the literary work, besides that this painting constitutes the mark of the place, I noticed in the entrances always next to the name appears that buggy, as logo.

There are several paths, the main one is decorated in the center by a tinajon like the ones at the entrance and near it there are signs of everything that can be found in that center.

Before arriving at the Ranchón at the end of the road there is a large cage of different small birds, the cage is covered with guano and on the way I found a hen and her chicks, an image very consistent with what my eyes were seeing, a whole country farm, from the colonial era.

The Ranchón is roofed with guano, you can see all the wooden framework that supports this great roof. This roof structure is raised on columns upholstered in wood so that everything fits together, at the base of the triangle of the guano roof there are some very beautiful fretwork. In the center there is a beautiful blue painted fountain, I was told that this area is used for weddings and quinces.

Adjacent to the ranchón, is the restaurant, which has a covered wooden room painted blue and white, I really liked that combination, has a wooden bar at the back, painted blue. The chairs are stools.

That wooden ceiling I have seen in many colonial buildings, in the corners there were cast iron details that served as ornaments, on the ceiling hang quaint lamps and some fans for the summer heat as this area is open is not air-conditioned and the weather is usually sweltering, is a fairly busy restaurant that caters to tourist groups, where the menu is very Creole. It was empty because it was still early in the morning. The roof of this area is made of ceramic tiles. The entire floor of the rooms is white cast granite with red stripes.

From the restaurant there are paths leading to 2 reserved areas, which are used during the day for more formal functions, business meetings, events, etc.) and restroom facilities. My meeting was in one of these reserved areas, but I didn't have many photo opportunities, just a few sneaky ones. The room is enclosed and air-conditioned, masonry with very nice wooden ceilings a pity I can't show them complete, in the corners it has wood and glass work.

Those roads are roofed, looking at the photos those arches over the roads, look pretty good, they explained to me that when it rains it was very uncomfortable for customers to move without getting wet, that's why they put them. But to be honest I didn't like that those ceilings were metallic, I notice that they don't match with the place even though they are painted in a way that matches, maybe I'm a little picky.

Exiting to the right after the central Ranchón there is a large area with a stage where screens and lights are mounted at night and the whole area becomes a large party room for young people, with several gastronomic areas that provide food and beverage service to attendees.

Next to the parking lot entrance on 112th Street, there is a cafeteria in case visitors want something lighter and do not want to go to the restaurant, it is a very pleasant area with large banners highlighting the dishes on offer. The furniture is simple aluminum and white plastic. This cafeteria is located next to the dance area I mentioned earlier.
.

This place is a very nice big complex, it has abundant vegetation, country air and colonial style, all that combination I liked very much, when you are there it does not seem that you are in the middle of the city. Enjoy, see you soon.

a place where you can enjoy a typical tropical environment of the island, its environment and that colonial architecture inherited from the time, this cultural center seems to me that at some point in history it was the place of some Spanish accent, thank you very much for share appreciated friend @lileisabel blessings 🙏

That's right, friend. I really liked how several architectural styles and different forms of recreation are combined in the same place, thanks for stopping by.

Ohhh friend, you made me laugh with that your first last name is Cecilia haha. I don't associate you with the type of call that is offered in that place, but with the place itself, the artists feel full in magical places and that place is incredible 😘😘

I'll bet the space has good air flow and humidity. The integration of plants and ornaments, and the usage of wood enable the space to have natural coolant. It's also spacious.

If it is a conjugation of everything , it is fresh and clear , it is like a little piece of the countryside in this great city
