I am not always productive and I am honestly kind of lazy too.
These past few days, I’ve been lazy since it’s days leading up to Christmas. I just want to spend some days away from all the gadgets and worldly stuff. As the only person in the family that celebrates it, nothing special was done at my home. It’s one of the quietest Christmas, just like always. But I decided to gift myself a new color to my work room, so that I can spend the following years feeling more cheerful and motivated.
While I am not the one who painted the room, I was supervising to see if it goes well. My room in the past was sort-of dull. It was a room that was pretty much abandoned and now is a place where I spend most of the time of my day. As much as I could do with the old paint, it was pretty depressing. So, I was on the market to paint my room with a new color that would enliven the space. I learned from my lesson having to paint my own apartment and my home, I am going with pastel and beige colors. As I browsed through the colors, I ended up choosing “butternut” color from Dulux. It’s not something that’s too expensive but a mid-range paint in terms of price. I reckon, to cover the size of the room which was around 7sqm, I decided that 5litres would be enough as it’s only one application would be needed for my room.
As you can see from some of the pictures below, the paint in the room is dirty and badly needed a new repaint. In some parts of the area, the cables where also dangling and it needs to be adjusted. It also used to be so much cluttered back in the day but during my 90 days of House Projects, I de-cluttered everything and eventually kept only necessary items that are needed in my room. When you remove a lot of clutter, it frees up everything too.
Some of the comparison picture before and after. Don’t mind my cat exercising her way and climbing the rails.
Before
During the process
This was before all the tables were moved to the middle but the paint guy was already prepping for the paint.
After
The painting process took about 5 hours. I honestly thought it would take more but thankfully, 5 hours was enough for my room to feel like it gets a new life. As you see above, some of the spots are now are quite invisible. All that's left to do for me is cleaning up the clutter and put them back to where they should. At the same time, I need to work on the interior of the place and removing stuff that are unmatched with the color pallete of the rom. Since now I got this color as the palette, I can choose furniture and things that would complement the room.
The result of butternut looks quite different under different light. With natural light it looks like a soft beige but under the yellow light, the beige is quite apparent and is something that actually fits the condition in my room where the light is actually yellowish hue. I am very pleased with it because the color isn’t straining for my eyes and is pretty warm but also not too warm that makes me want to sleep in all the time. It was just the right amount of color needed for this room. I actually have more areas that needed to be re-decorated and painted and hopefully before January ends, my home could have its new life.

The colors that are in our house are super important, depending on the one we choose we could spend it in a bad mood or even sad. You chose a pretty nice color, I have always believed that cream colors are the best to paint the house, although my favorite color is black to paint the walls.
I'm glad you feel satisfied with the paint change, it looked pretty good, although before the kitty gave it a special touch haha. Hugs
I saw a room with black and gray colors when they are done right, it actually looks great. For me though, I love colors like beige or anything pastel. I am really trying to match the look of the house which is basically a semi-mediterranean styled. It was built that way by my grandfather and I wanted to revive it as much as I could.
Happy holidays and thank you for checking out 😊
I'm thinking of painting my room and I always choose pastel colors to feel more relaxed, I liked the change you gave to your room, I'm glad you feel more cheerful and have begun to give a big change to the environments around you is very necessary, I hope to do it soon.
Happy Holidays. 💙💙💙💙💙✨
I can't help but mention that I loved seeing your cat working out hahahaha he looks so cute.💗
hahaha my cat definitely loves working out around that window. I mean it's perfect climbing area for them.
I hope you can color your room soon, pastel is a great interior paint if you have mostly wood dominated furnitures and loves something that exudes cozy atmosphere
Hahahahahahahahh naughty cats, but lovely, I hope to see my room as nice as yours dear @macchiata 💙 💙 💙 💙, congratulations, hope you have a nice Christmas.
This sounds just like my wife.....while I'm doing the work hahaha
Like coffee shops, its how a place makes you feel and if you're happy, then nothing else matters :-)
Hope youre having a wonderful week, Mac :-)
🤣I got help by my cats who were supervising the worker too. They got so curious about the commotion and decided to wait in front of the door and see the whole process. I am definitely having a wonderful week, I can't even wait for the New Year's eve. It's a long holiday over here, like from 24 to 1st of January😁
Room improvement!
I wish I can have my own room by next year :)
