En uno de esos paseos que mis padres suelen realizar llegaron a la Plaza Gran Colombia de la urbanización Campo Alegre, Municipio Chacao, Estado Miranda, República Bolivariana de Venezuela. allí se encontraron con una extraordinaria escultura que de inmediato les llamó la atención por su hermoso diseño, color y tamaño. Se trata de la pieza de arte Concordia del Arquitecto, artista y diseñador caraqueño José Ignacio Alvarado.
In one of those walks that my parents usually take, they arrived at the Plaza Gran Colombia of the Campo Alegre urbanization, Chacao Municipality, Miranda State, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. there they came across an extraordinary sculpture that immediately caught their attention for its beautiful design, color and size. It is the art piece Concord by the Caracas architect, artist and designer José Ignacio Alvarado.

Esta plaza es muy poco conocida por los caraqueños, se ubica en la calle El Parque con segunda transversal de Campo Alegre. El nombre real de la plaza es Plaza Francisco Antonio Zea, pero se le conoce entre los lugareños como Plaza Gran Colombia, lo curioso es que tiene un diseño poco común para una plaza, esto se debe a que no se construyó de forma circular o cuadrada, sino que es sumamente larga y angosta, la misma se puede apreciar en la siguiente imagen.

This square is very little known by the people of Caracas, it is located on El Parque street with the second transversal of Campo Alegre. The real name of the square is Plaza Francisco Antonio Zea, but it is known among the locals as Plaza Gran Colombia, the curious thing is that it has an unusual design for a square, this is because it was not built circular or square, but it is extremely long and narrow, it can be seen in the following image.
Al ser una plaza poco conocida por los habitantes ajenos a la zona, es frecuentada principalmente por los habitantes del sector. Estos la aprovechan para sacar a sus mascotas, para hacer ejercicios, y es principalmente transitada por los niños y jóvenes que no dudan en usarla para montar en sus patinetas, bicicletas o cualquier medio de diversión que les permita recorrerla de inicio a fin, pues la plaza fue construida con una pendiente moderada que es aprovechada por estos jóvenes amantes de la velocidad.
Being a square little known by the inhabitants outside the area, it is frequented mainly by the inhabitants of the sector. These take advantage of it to take out their pets, to do exercises, and it is mainly traveled by children and young people who do not hesitate to use it to ride their skateboards, bicycles or any means of fun that allows them to travel it from beginning to end, because the square was built with a moderate slope that is taken advantage of by these young speed lovers.
Una de las esculturas que se pueden visualizar en esta plaza corresponde al escultor y artista colombiano Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, está escultura tiene como nombre, "Construcción Elemental" y fue la primera escultura construida en esta plaza. La obra representa el sentimiento permanente de la amistad cívica, que no es otra cosa que concordar con ideas contrarias. En esta obra el arquitecto nos muestra o emula a tres ciudadanos que dialogan para llegar a un acuerdo. La escultura se muestra en una forma dinámica, construida en una cinta de color amarillo que simboliza el sol, la luz, y la lucidez de pensamiento, donde el movimiento continuo de la escultura expresa está parte corpórea de tres personas dialogando. Por esta razón, la escultura Concordia tiene ese amarillo brillante. La obra es resistente y tiene un peso de tres toneladas.
The work represents the permanent feeling of civic friendship, which is nothing more than agreeing with contrary ideas. In this work the architect shows us or emulates three citizens who dialogue to reach an agreement. The sculpture is shown in a dynamic form, built on a yellow ribbon symbolizing the sun, light, and lucidity of thought, where the continuous movement of the sculpture expresses is corporeal part of three people dialoguing. For this reason, the Concordia sculpture has that bright yellow. The work is resistant and has a weight of three tons.
El arquitecto decidió ubicar su obra en la plaza Gran Colombia, por las características formales del espacio (perfil urbano, y forma de la plaza) y por ser muy significativa, esto con relación al proyecto de Bolívar (Libertador) que no llego a materializarse por falta de concordia, este proyecto era La Gran Colombia.
The architect decided to locate his work in the Plaza Gran Colombia, due to the formal characteristics of the space (urban profile, and shape of the square) and for being very significant, this in relation to the project of Bolívar (Libertador) that did not materialize due to lack of concord, this project was La Gran Colombia.
Durante la inauguración de esta obra, Gonzalo Ciffoni, (Presidente de la Comisión de Gestión Urbana y Turismo del Concejo Municipal de Chacao) expreso lo siguiente, cito:
La inauguración de la pieza escultórica “Concordia" es una pieza que representa un diálogo entre ideas diferentes para el encuentro ciudadano, contribuye a la interacción de vecinos y visitantes con el arte y enriquece de esta manera un espacio de encuentro y esparcimiento, donde la cultura sea un elemento importante, en pro del buen desenvolvimiento de la vida urbana del chacaoense.
During the inauguration of this work, Gonzalo Ciffoni, (President of the Urban Management and Tourism Commission of the Municipal Council of Chacao) expressed the following, I quote:
The inauguration of the sculptural piece "Concordia" is a piece that represents a dialogue between different ideas for the citizen encounter, contributes to the interaction of neighbors and visitors with art and thus enriches a space for meeting and recreation, where culture is an important element, in favor of the good development of urban life in Chacaoense.
