Excellent post my friend. When building my house here in Thailand, I had a huge fight with the builders and had to make them wrap the posts in plastic to allow the humidity to build and stop the concrete drying too quickly.
Bad builders here don't always do this and for structural posts that support the 2nd floor, its very important!
That's right, you have to demand that things be done as they should, because the people who live in that structure will be in danger when an event occurs. It's not hard for us to do things.
