Architectural Photography: Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Krakow

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

In this episode of my architectural photography series, I will show you another beautiful church that can be found and admired in Krakow, Poland. This magnificent piece of Neo - Romantic architecture is called the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and it is situated on the Jana Zamoyskiego Street in the Krakow neighborhood of Podgorze.

Although this church is really huge and very impressive, to my surprise, I didn´t find much information about it, not even in the Polish language so let me just share my own observations about it with you. In fact, one of the reasons why this church is not as popular as some other churches in the city may be the fact that the iconic St. Joseph´s Church that I wrote about in this post is actually just some 600 m (0.4 mi) from here so most of the visitors to this part of the city tend to gather around the St. Joseph´s Church which is a very famous Krakow landmark.

Still, however, the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is also very interesting and worth a visit for sure. I thought the church was actually much older but as I found out, it was built at the beginning of the 20th century, mostly in the Neo - Romantic architectural style with some Neo - Gothic features. I don´t have any pictures from the inside but we went there for a Christmas Mass last Christmas and it was really beautiful there. I do have two more shots of the church to offer you though. I took both of them from the Bednarski Park which is located just above the church.

I took the photos just some two weeks ago but as you can see, the surrounding vegetation looked very different back then from what it´s like now. No traces of autumn yet, just lush greenery.

If I took take some pictures from the same spots now, the church would be surrounded by the colorful autumn spectacle that you might have seen in some of my more recent posts ;) But the views of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help from the Bednarski Park are amazing in every season so if you happen to be in this part of the city, make sure to visit both the church itself and the lookout spots above it. You will not encounter many tourists there, mostly locals, which is something I always appreciate.

You have done it again, I always love looking at your architectural photography really stunning bro 👍

Thanks man! Always a pleasure to share the architectural gems of this city with you guys :)

A beautiful church. It looks like the ones in Italy, perhaps due to Neo-Gothic time. It is strange that there is not much information about it.

Well for me, it´s difficult to tell which churches are really from the Gothic Era and which were built in the Neo Gothic Era many centuries later... Both types are common here in Krakow. Fans of architecture must love this city haha :) Thanks for stopping by!
