Today, after having a boring day all through the house doing pretty nothing much expect doing my normal routine on hive which is making comments and creating my daily post, i decided to take a stroll across the town just to stretch out and cool my head. I have actually had a stressful month last week and using this holiday is just a time to relax and reflect on how last month has went.
Along the street when taking the stroll, I came across a church, a popular one in my town as of writing currently now and staring at the beauty of the building, without not wasting time also, I decided to take out my smartphones to take some captivating shots of the building and decided to share it with you guys.
Back to the main topic, St Andrew Anglican Church is a very big cathedral that boast Ancient history attached to it. In fact history made me to understand the fact that it is one of the first church in my town before other church start poping up.
First sight of the building, you will be welcome by the big church. In fact at first sight, you will have been rest assured that this is a cathedral church. There was actually a whole lot of money spent on the building as that was quite evident. At the front view of the building, you will see the entrance to the church and a banner bearing the name of the church as rhis will give the identity of the church at first sight.
When you look at the left side of the building just at the front, you will see a construction of a tower which holds the church mighty bell. I found out that the bell is always used to create alarm for time of prayers. Though as of writing, I can really find the big bell deep within.
By the sideview of the church, you are presented with the quality of the windows of the church. It has this design though the window does not fit the recent design of windows normally used in building but nevertheless, it is still a class and it is actually quite durable as I also found out that this building has been existing for close to 30-40 years and still looking good in view. I guess it was also well maintained.
Back to the front view of the building, you will see a mini storybuiding up there. Well I forgot to ask what is the space used for in the church. Probably in my next visit to the church, I will try to ask. But up at the top of the building, you will see an inscription of a cross on the top side of the building. Well I think that symbolises the Jesus they served.
One of the things that took me by surprise still at the front view of the church is seeing a cemetery been constructed. Well as you all know, cemetery is used to bury dead bodies. But one of the things that surprise me was the fact that it was found in a church. Of course out of my curiosity, I made my research also and I discovered it was one of the devoted and long commited once served bishop of the church that was buried there as a remembrance for the great work he did to the church.
Just by the side of the main building of the church, you will find the church hall. They call it the cathedral multi purpose hall. This hall was constructed by the church to host event by the church and even outside as it is also used as a revenue for the church. It is really a big hall as you can see also.
Also at the front, I was surprised as this is the first time I will see a church having a washing hand space at the front. I was curious to know why that was added to the church most especially at the front of the building. Well I decided not to ask as probably not all curious questions should be asked.
There is also a door or should I call it an entrance door at the side of the building. I think there are close to three entrance view to the church. There is the front view, the side view and the back view entrance which I will be talking about also.
Yea I remember telling you that there is a back entrance to the church, yea, it is constructed uniquely different from what the pattern both the front and the side entrance view is.
At the back of the church, I was finally able to locate the children church of the main church. Yes I was also wondering at first searching for the children church because every modern church always have both the children church and the main church. I was finally able to locate it. It was actually placed at the back of the church and that answered my question.
Now before rounding up on my series today, I finally was able to see the mission house. Now for many of us who did not know what is mission house. Mission house is the resident house that every pastor of the church and his family lives in pending the time they are pastoring the church. And yes ST. Andrew's Anglican Cathedral Church also have it's own mission house and trust me, it is well build and so beautifully crafted.
And finally that brings a close to my adventure visit to ST. Andrew's Anglican Cathedral Church today. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and I will be waiting for your feedback in the comment section below.
