Having a beautiful built environment is everyone's desire, but it takes a lot to fulfil them.
Weather you are a professional designer or a built space's owner, living and working around a beautiful ambience is a mark of a good lifestyle.
There are plenty of markets from branded to street designs available in almost all regions of the world globally from the time when humans decided to leave the cave and create some solid structure to survive.
One famous local handcrafted market which has been running for past 15 years successfully in Delhi NCR- Gurgaon is Banjara Market.
It's not everyone's cup of tea to create a interior designing and decor brand and run it with profits. So, Many handcrafting artisans open their local store. When many artisans join hands it tends to become a market. If a market is running for more than a decade then it embarks the success in society.
Spread across acers of government authorised land, stands these temporary sheltered market with talented artisans showcasing their collection.
The word BANJARA stands for a nomadic trading tribe. These are the group of people who sell their art.
Being an architect this place has always bought a curiosity in me and finally I could make a visit there. It was a two hour drive from home but all worth it.
Let's start from decorative section-
This market is supremely famous for it's wonderful collection of handmade products which are economical as well.
Bling Bling all around! said my mom, whom I tagged along to explore the market due to her interest in such places. The first thing we came across were these crystal decorative products ranging from candle stand to mini chandelier. These were such good quality products which could easily elevate your style statement.
There was plenty of DIY stuff as well form multiple empty frames to different wall arts.
I purchased these 4 rough antiqued empty frames as I love doing art and I can add in my choice of art and hang it on the wall of my room. Whenever I'll come up with four different art for each frames, would share how it went.
We bought this one for our home's lobby area, since we were fed up from our usual artwork over the wall.
These wall arts were made from different solid materials like stainless steel, mild steel and lot more, these pieces were welded together by the local artisans who sold them. There is no middleman in this market, just the artisans selling their craft.
To be honest such market have a huge bargaining culture but that is individual's choice. Most of the artworks looks super expensive but are really affordable. Not just wall arts, in the bling bling section, let me take all our interior décor enthusiasts to the section of decorative items -
There were plenty of detailed and beautiful decorative objects made out of different materials such as wood, ceramic, pop, glass etc and all these were very charming. People were really into purchasing all these decorative items, they are best not just for decoration but for nice gifting as well moreover many shopkeepers here provides unique gift packing options as well.
If you are architect/ interior designer they can provide products on demand and in bulk.
Not just antique but you get the modern ones as well. I used to spend a lot of time working on lumion software, While strolling through banjara market I found many types of furniture set which are supremely famous on lumion. Moreover the most amazing and forte factor was the antique style.
Instagram famous mirrors
These beautiful mirrors are so in trend these days, every other person is buying them, so I din't purchased them. LOL! It's just good for a selfie though. People here comes for just frame as well and add in the mirror later on.
The material of the frame was wooden and it looked very beautiful but cliché.
That's my pretty mom exploring the frames of mirror. She has also made a vlog on you tube regarding our visit to banjara market.
There were traditional Indian as well as modern sides tables too. These two pictures above depicts the variety really well. One can have plenty of options in stool, chairs and tables for modern and traditional both styles.
These are the ceramic door nobs which were customised and mostly unique art ans style, here you can purchase a certain furniture and add your own twist to the newly purchased one or the older one just by changing the nibs, I too bought 4 nobs and haven't tested them by applying yet.
Not just these but there were plenty of choices for the furniture styling which was treat to my eyes. One who is interested will surely enjoy the tour .
There were many kinds of light for example, pendant, studio etc. Lamps came in different style and shape.
The artistic value was worth applauding and o wonder why this market is still running more than 20 years of construction.
This place was total treat to the eyes, I was stunned and mesmerised by the amazingness of the place, we purchased a large wall artwork, stools of traditional wooden, some crockeries and decoration stuff.
Have you every been to such amazing handmade artisans' market?
