Most of the metro stations are made on functional purpose and not on artistic purpose. The government buildings are simplistic and related to what lies in the terms of organisation and usage.
Tearing apart the regular norms , Delhi INA metro station has given life to concreate and steel structures by adding in art and coloured interiors.
Many people like me choose to travel through metro even after having a personal vehicle just to save time and energy on very frequent traffic jams. Time is the most precious thing which we realise only after it is lost. So, In order to keep up with the fast escalating world I choose to travel through metro whenever possible.
Yesterday, On my usual commute through metro I noticed art and stood by it and observed that it was made by some local artesian in his cultural style. Which was fascinating and thought that this station is unusually aesthetic as compared to rest of them. The next minute I found myself clicking pictures of every nook of the station that attracted me.
Delhi Haat INA is a huge underground metro station which connects multiple lines of metro to a single spot. This station is basically used by commuters to change metro from one platform to another. The different lines of metro in Delhi are named by the colours. My home falls in pink line metro. So wherever I go I have to go back home using pink line only and It's super cool.
So, I had to switch the metro from yellow line to pink line in order to go back home and this station is like a breath of fresh air under the ground Irony!
I however captured some amazing art-
The station is divided into different sections considering it is huge and spread across acres underground so the design of the station is not at all monotonous, it has subtle marble look, high end vibrant colourful look and the third one is the huge circular ceiling look.
The pictures above showcases the subtle marble side of the station.
These huge art are framed and mounted on the wall across this section of the station and these are from ministry of textile as they have given these arts purchased from local artisans from India's different states and their cultures to the DMRC which the government body which specifically maintains and work the metro and it's stations across the city.
The work of art is amazing and appreciable. BY the time one watches the art closely and wants to switch the metro line, There comes another section of metro which is totally young and vibrant-
That's how a person switches from subtle to vibrant, what next you'll see will be surprising & mesmerising enough to make you want to travel to Delhi soon.
But before looking at the pictures, Did you know that the yellow strips spread across teh floor are for blind people to help them guide through the way to metro line and the foot stickers in different colours are meant for common people to see and follow as to which line one wants to go without getting lost on station.
The walls were covered with the teal coloured panel and every alternative panel has an modern abstract art displayed.
My most favourite one is-
Can you spot the cute little cow in white and black with red ballon just at the center of the art?
Isn't it the cutest one of the all? I found it adorable.
Moving ahead-
The ceiling is covered with louvers which partially exposes the ducts present inside the false ceiling which is very cool for a public place.
With one or two kiosk in between, it is actually very clean and I see many people clicking pictures by the walls for their social media as it's very picture friendly, I was alone there otherwise would have surely click some pictures and displayed here.
This corner was dedicated to the artistic portraits of different scholars of history who have contributed their best for making India.
I was amazed as to how this was designed considering all historic sentiments and not their pictures but art was hanged around the wall going along with the theme of the place.
All the places where the panels are not installed, there are hand painted geometric shapes of mostly pink in colour to showcase that this side of the station is the pink line.
Please don't get confused as not all the metro stations have painting of the colour of the line they are in.
Considering there are plenty of lines for example- blue, yellow, pink, magenta, violet, green etc.
which leads to particular stations.
As compared to other lines of metro, pink and magenta lines are fairly the new ones, they are probably 4 years old by now and they are very nicely maintained.
One can see the electronic doors installed on the edge of the platform in order to avoid the accidents. The jali pattern panel on the walls of the track were kind of flex by DMRC which we loved.
The seats are literally pink and beautiful. This is the women coach and the men coach had blue seats. Isn't it pretty pretty?
The experience is all that matters, I believe and have noticed as well that mostly people commuting through metro are generally in hurry and to give them an aesthetically appealing look and elevate their mood swings by the ambience is the best decision by the government. This makes commuting happy and smooth.
People like me loves the pretty interior of this metro station.
As I earlier mentioned the third section of the station which is huge circular ceiling, It was closed for people which refrained me from taking some pictures.
Rest the experience is always smooth.
Is there any commuting method in your city that you prefer and which public transportation facility is the most aesthetically appealing in your city?

I am regretting now not exploring such a beautiful metro station. I was in Delhi for 3 months before coming to Ukraine and I remember my dad told me to visit the metro station. I hardly can remember which one it was because I almost forgot the locations of Delhi except a few. Surely this is one of the most artistic metro stations I have ever seen and modern as well. After comparing between Kharkiv Metro Stations and Delhi metro station, I would say both are very beautiful and unique from a design perspective...
Hi friend @priyanarc thanks for your wonderful comment. Oh that's completely alright that you missed out maybe next time whenever you visit Delhi let me be your host:)
Have a great day ahead and I hope the situations over there at the border gets normal soon.
Stay safe
Hello dear Sahiba @sahiba-rana. Impressive! Congrats to your city of New Delhi for developing such a modernized metro station for its citizens. It's indeed a great move that they have decorated the otherwise monotonous walls, elements, and other plain details of the subway interiors with artistic ornaments, attractive murals, and cultural artifacts that promote your national heritage. As a result, public commuters would not be bored while using these transportation lines.
When I was in India, most of the trains I witnessed were older models that traversed the outdoor railroads. And the project you've featured here looks like a more recent venture, isn't it? I haven't tried your metro stations yet, but I'd love to experience them on my future visit there. Like you, I'll surely be smiling a lot while enjoying the views, amenities, and of course, the pleasurable ride itself. Thank you for showcasing this magnificent work of architecture and engineering. Take care always during your travels. 😊
Actually there are plenty of new lines of metro which government had opened in past few years and each and every station is beautifully made and best one is INA station which I have displayed here. As the result of new stations the load on past metro was reduced drastically which lead to more spacious and peaceful rides every time.
By the way It would be great if you travel here again, I would be more than happy to provide you a good tour in my city.
Take care dear Erene @storiesoferne
Wow! If that's the case, I'll be more than happy to experience your modern metro stations in the near future. And with you as my tour partner and kind host, I'm pretty sure it would be an awesome time. Hopefully, travel restrictions due to the pandemic would ease, thus allowing more freedom to journey into gorgeous international destinations like Incredible India. Have a fantastic weekend dear Sahiba! 😊
You are always welcomed Dear Erne @storiesoferne:))

waoh wonderful publication, I really enjoyed seeing each of the images I have always thought that the most crowded places should be the most cheerful and trained to the view, to turn the monotony an enjoyment. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place
Hey @giapel86 "the most crowded places should be the most cheerful and trained to the view" This is the most amazing statement so far. This is actually true and authorities should take interest in this venture.
