An Old Style Javanese Backyard

A comfortable backyard, I think about it. Especially later when the house is retired. Of course it is the dream of many people in my opinion. The time when you can relax in your own backyard, I think it is a worthy dream.

There is an Old Style Javanese Backyard that makes my dreams burn again. About having the same area at least this inspires me. Maybe this inspires you too.

Actually I often see a backyard style like this before. Old style, I see it in some of my relatives' houses, my uncles and aunts in the Java island area.

Culture does have a big influence. For example, people in the past had many children and siblings so they needed a large space for family gatherings. Usually family events will be held in the backyard. Large semi-outdoor huts are made for comfortable gatherings.

Like what I saw in the backyard at a place I stopped by. Indeed, this place is basically used as a cafe but often we can rent this place for family events.

All backyard materials use materials that are indeed abundantly available in this area. Starting from the roof material, using fired pottery that has been used since ancient times and this material has proven to be strong. In addition, this material can ward off heat well, suitable for hot areas like in Indonesia.

Various types of wood are used to support the roof, also used as materials for benches and tables. I was amazed to see how the quality of wood in this area looks strong and sturdy.

The tables and chairs use smooth wood that has been varnished but still maintains the original texture of the wood.

Because it is used for family events, a hanging swing is also added. With sturdy wood but can still perform the swinging function normally like most other hanging swings. This is something that children like of course.

The ground area is covered with gravel to prevent the growth of weeds because this backyard area does not have a full roof as a whole. While still making a pedestrian path with cement for comfort.

Birds are also placed in several corners of this backyard area to liven up the atmosphere. People in the past, especially in Java, did like to keep birds at home and it was considered a lucky charm as my parents once said.

Added a small fountain element to add a fresh impression in the middle of the hot air in this city. Equipped with various green plants around it really helps the air feel fresh and cool.

The fence is made with a soil pattern, see terracotta color. I think it's good, not excessive because it's not made too high. Just for partitions and area boundary markers.

Old Javanese style is always familiar to be found on various islands in Indonesia because in the past people from Java moved their population when there was a major riot on Java. With the spread of Javanese people in various regions, it brought the influence of classic Javanese design but it remains beautiful and timeless.

Reminds me of the times when I used to gather with my relatives on Java Island, only now there are only a few relatives left and it feels like a large space feels quiet. People today will have a smaller backyard because land is expensive. Everything has a price and is indeed worthy.

Sort:

The patio looks comfortable and cool, they thought of all the details for family gatherings, the hut is nice, the chair has a nice design and ornaments on the back and sides.

Wood material has comfortable thing
