Hi, Hive friends. It's been a long time since I wrote here because I have a real life to live. Back to my blog, as usual I like to share about architecture topics.
When traveling to a place, of course, we will see several buildings or places that have unique architecture. Like what I saw this time. When I was exercising around here, I saw a traditional Malay house building, but this building was not used as a residence, but rather for certain official events from the government. Like a show house in the middle of the city.
Our country Indonesia has many tribes. One of the tribes in the province where I live is the Malay Tribe. Traditional Malay houses are generally of the high-rise type.
A house of the stage type with supports underneath is to avoid flooding and wild animals in the past. In the past, houses were made of wood.
Because this building also functions for exhibitions and public knowledge, this building is made of brick and cement like modern houses in general to maintain the age of the building.
Even so, there are still some elements that use wood to create an authentic impression on the building. Such as on the main door, also on the windows of this traditional house building. In addition, there are also complementary ornaments that are the identity of various tribes in Indonesia.
THE MAIN DOOR
On the door, use a double door. The door is colored brown. With striking golden yellow ornamental carvings above the door.
THE WINDOWS
The same thing also applies to the windows and ornamental carvings. Each tribe does have a different pattern on the building's carved ornaments.
Meanwhile, the typical ornaments on the door are also multifunctional as air vents.
Then on both sides of the wall next to the right and left areas of the window, yellow ornaments are made using a green background color.
THE STAIRS
The traditional Malay house building on Sumatra Island has two sides of stairs on the right and left of the building. In the stair area, the typical pattern applied to the stair divider material is increasingly visible.
This stair divider is also made to resemble a wood pattern, using the main colors of the Malay ethnic identity, namely dark green and yellow, as well as a little reddish brown.
THE GAZEBO
This building also has an interesting area in my opinion. This building has a veranda or gazebo that is separate from the main building. Indeed, this kind of space in the past was used as a relaxation area or children's play area.
On top of the gazebo there is a symbol of a traditional weapon. This traditional weapon also has a striking golden yellow color.
The gazebo area also applies a detailed design of interesting carvings on the sides of the roof and the sides of the pillars of the gazebo building.
From a distance, this traditional Malay house building still looks very magnificent. although some parts need to be repaired. There are many areas of peeling wall paint.
On several occasions when I passed this place, this building was often used as a place for pre-wedding photo shoots. In addition, it is also a wedding venue.
Overall, this traditional house building displays the impression of the majesty of the golden age of the Malay tribe at that time. Every era certainly has a glorious time that is worth remembering.
Standing on the floor of this building, looking into the distance, standing next to the floor wall divider somehow makes you feel like a nobleman in the ancient kingdom. Interesting!
This has definitely been my favorite trip today through architecture and design. What a beautiful and stunning place. Everything about this land and these cultures so far away from my own steals my heart, hopefully I can appreciate it in person someday. Thank you very much for sharing your photographs of this traditional house...
