Today I want to share with you a pleasant experience I had while visiting a small but charming square named Francisco Fajardo. It was a visit that, although brief, left me with a sense of peace and connection.Greetings, dear friends of #architectureanddesign.

This square is strategically located in one of the most central and busy streets of the city of Porlamar, specifically on Palguarime Street. Despite being immersed in the hustle and bustle of the city, this corner offers a natural respite from the daily hustle and bustle, making it an ideal place to disconnect for a few moments.
Esta plaza se encuentra estratégicamente ubicada en una de las calles más céntricas y concurridas de la ciudad de Porlamar, específicamente en la calle Palguarime. A pesar de estar inmersa en el bullicio citadino, este rincón ofrece un respiro natural en medio del ajetreo diario, lo que lo convierte en un espacio ideal para desconectarse por unos instantes.
Although its size is not impressive, what really stands out about this square is its abundant vegetation. The numerous trees that adorn it not only bring freshness, but also act as a real natural lung for the city. It is very important to care for and preserve these spaces in the city.
In the heart of the square, stands a majestic granite bust in shades of gray and white, dedicated to Francisco Fajardo. This monument, loaded with history, reminds us that Fajardo was the founder of Caracas and that he was born in the beloved Margarita Island, specifically in the Parahuarime sector. It is an honor for all Margaritans to have a space that pays tribute to someone who played an important role in history.
Aunque su tamaño no es impresionante, lo que realmente destaca de esta plaza es su abundante vegetación. Los numerosos árboles que la adornan no solo aportan frescura, sino que también actúan como un verdadero pulmón natural para la ciudad. Es muy importante cuidar y preservar estos espacios en la ciudad.
En el corazón de la plaza, se erige un busto majestuoso de granito en tonos gris y blanco, dedicado a Francisco Fajardo. Este monumento, cargado de historia, nos recuerda que Fajardo fue fundador de Caracas y que nació en la querida Isla de Margarita, específicamente en el sector de Parahuarime. Es un honor para todos los margariteños, contar con un espacio que rinde tributo a alguien que jugó un papel importante en la historia.
A detail that especially caught my attention was the presence of a Virgin of the Valley in a corner of the square. As the patron saint of Margarita Island, her image is protected by a glass structure that shelters it from the inclement weather. It is placed inside a charming chapel of black stones, simple but very significant. In front of this chapel, there is a bench where visitors can sit to contemplate it and, perhaps, to say a prayer or simply to enjoy a moment of calm. In the upper part of the chapel, a small crystal reflects the light of the day and the coming and going of people, giving a special and almost magical touch to this corner.
Un detalle que llamó especialmente mi atención fue la presencia de una Virgen del Valle en un rincón de la plaza. Como patrona de la Isla de Margarita, su imagen está protegida por una estructura de vidrio que la resguarda de las inclemencias del clima. Está colocada dentro de una encantadora capilla de piedras negras, sencilla pero muy significativa. Frente a esta capilla, se encuentra un banco donde los visitantes pueden sentarse a contemplarla y, tal vez, a elevar una plegaria o simplemente a disfrutar de un momento de calma. En la parte superior de la capilla, un pequeño cristal refleja la luz del día y el ir y venir de las personas, otorgando un toque especial y casi mágico a este rincón.
The floor of the plaza is another element that does not go unnoticed. It is decorated with charming figures made of colorful tiles, which give a cheerful and vibrant tone to the place. Walking through this space is like entering a mosaic of colors that revitalizes the spirit.
In addition, the park benches are an example of how a public space should be designed. They are comfortable, sturdy and strategically located under the leafy branches of the trees, which guarantees a cool and relaxing shade for those who decide to use them. It is perfect for spending a quiet moment, reading a book, chatting or simply observing the life flowing around you.
El suelo de la plaza es otro elemento que no pasa desapercibido. Está decorado con figuras encantadoras hechas de baldosas de colores, que le otorgan un tono alegre y vibrante al lugar. Caminar por este espacio es como entrar en un mosaico de colores que revitaliza el espíritu.
Además, los bancos del parque son un ejemplo de cómo debe diseñarse un espacio público. Son cómodos, robustos y están estratégicamente ubicados bajo las frondosas ramas de los árboles, lo que garantiza una fresca y relajante sombra para quienes decidan utilizarlos. Es perfecto para pasar un momento de tranquilidad, leyendo un libro, conversando o simplemente observando la vida que fluye a su alrededor.
During my visit, I took advantage of the shade of the trees to rest for a moment while waiting for my husband to finish refueling at a nearby gas station. It was time well spent, enjoying the serenity of the place and appreciating every detail that makes it special.

Durante mi visita, aproveché la sombra de los árboles para descansar un momento mientras esperaba que mi esposo terminara de colocar combustible en una estación de servicio cercana. Fue un tiempo bien invertido, disfrutando de la serenidad del lugar y apreciando cada detalle que lo hace especial.
