An art gallery in the city, who would have thought it, and from my point of view, from an ordinary citizen, it has been a success.

I am going to tell you a little bit about what this is all about and what I have been following through social networks, websites and in person.

It turns out that Antonio Azzato is a Venezuelan artist who currently lives in Spain and has become famous for making sculptures on "Las Meninas" by the Spanish painter Diego Velasquez.

Well, with the help of the municipality of Chacao, the artist has placed in 19 points of the city of Caracas, these sculptural works of fiberglass with decorations alluding to Venezuela. This has caused a whole movement of people with the sole intention of visiting and photographing them. The exhibition will be on display until the end of February, when they will be removed from their place.

These sculptures not only give color and colorfulness to the places of the city where they were placed, but they are also a meeting point for the citizens who follow in one way or another these nice works. Simply a communion between art and urban design. The chosen places are strategic, and the decoration of the work blends with the urbanism around it. This gives harmony to these places.

Three days after the exhibition was set up, which by the way is called "Meninas Caracas Gallery", together with a group of friends, all photography fanatics, we went hunting. Hahahaha, yes photo hunting. In this post, I show you some of the ones I took and they took me.

Visiting Las Meninas was the perfect excuse to walk around the city, take pictures, talk to friends, eat and share impressions, not only of the artworks on display, but also of the urban design. Every place was perfect for a photograph.

I did the visit in two parts. We had to walk a lot, some were very far apart. Now, I can say that I have visited all Las Meninas, which I am very happy about, it was a goal accomplished.

Now I am going to talk about each Menina individually, because each one of them has been conceived with the intention of honoring an aspect of our Venezuela, so here is the list of Las Meninas, necessary to understand them:

1.- Gleyber Torres. He is a baseball player who currently plays for the New York Yankees.
Deyna Castellanos. Venezuelan soccer player who plays as a forward for the Bay Football Club of the National Women's Soccer League in the United States.
3.- Black Gold. In honor to the Venezuelan gold.
Ronald Acuña: Venezuelan baseball player who plays for the Atlanta Braves.
5.- Sabroso. In honor to the salsa singer Oscar D'León.
6.- Angel Falls. For the highest waterfall in the world.
7.- Macaws. These beautiful birds abound in my country, and there are many in Caracas.
8.- Hummingbird. This tiny bird abounds in our country.
9.- Los Roques. For the archipelago of beautiful beaches and sands that is to the north, in the Caribbean Sea.
Bolivar Square. This menina has the image of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in its skirt.
Rum of Venezuela, for the great amount of international prizes that the Venezuelan rum has won.
Miss Stripes, in honor of the fashion designer, Angel Sanchez.
Mineral Resources, referring to the amount of these resources that we have, especially gold in the southern part of the country.
14.- Avila. For the majestic mountain that observes from the north to all caraqueños.
15.- Orchid. In honor to our national flower.
16.- Araguaney. For our national tree.
17.- Toucan. For this beautiful bird that lives in our country.
18.- BNC. This menina is the tallest of all. It is going to stay in the place where it is, entrance to the BNC (Banco Nacional de Crédito) building.
19.- Bonds of my land. It has the colors of the national flag.

So far my tour through this art that took over the city, making it a more interesting place to live and walk.

Greetings, I would like to go on that tour of the meninas, I have always liked everything that has to do with tourism and the stories of our traditions and cultures.

Hi, you can search on social networks, or instagram. there are groups that take them to every point where there is a menina. It is fabulous.

And please write in english. It´s a rule in this community. Happy day .

You as always captivate me with your images. They are beautiful and impeccable.
Lots of love from this side of the planet.

Hello dear @germanandradeg . Thank you for your lovely words. I'm sure you will like to visit they!

Greetings @tibaire, what beautiful pictures, the artist did a great job, the colors are striking, I thought they were wood,,, thanks for sharing your nice tour in search of the meninas.

Happy Saturday!

Hi @belkyscabrera , I thought they were wood too, but no, it's fiberglass. The concept is great and it's definitely an excuse to visit the city.

Interesting, as you say, I like the red one, the first one on the left, and the most important thing is that each one, as you list them, gives life to person and things that leave a mark.

Totally. They are all beautiful, however, that red one you are talking about captures the attention and the most interesting thing is that it is the only one with a crown. By the way, I'm knitting it. hahaha
