THE OLD AND NEW DESIGN OF DUFAN AMUSEMENT PARK

In every adult human body, there is an inner child that will continue to live until old age. go This inner child takes different forms, some grow from sweet memories and some grow from bitter memories. But, perhaps one thing is always in the memories of children in general. Amusement parks!

Although I didn't actually go to a big, fancy amusement park as a child, my parents introduced me to a carousel at a festival. At least once a year, as a child, our neighbourhood held a festival with various children's toys. Of course, the carousel was a favourite and a must-ride for children.

Then, now that I'm an adult, I go to Theme Parks less and less, I think I only went there twice during a study tour in high school and once when I got a job where the office was not too far from the theme park. That was eight years ago.

But last week, I invited two of my friends to return to visit the biggest theme park in Indonesia: Dufan Ancol. Dufan stands for DUnia FANtasi (fantasy world). It was so nice to go back to the theme park and please my inner child at this time. Honestly, lately there are too many things that make my mind a bit stressful, so it's a good time to go to an amusement park. There we can freely scream when we're on the rides, right? Hohoho.
However, on this trip, I will also observe about whether there is anything different between Dufan from my past, and the current Dufan architecturally?

ENTRANCE DOORS

There are two entrances that must be passed when entering the DUFAN amusement park. First, visitors must pay to enter the ANCOL area, and then visitors can queue to buy tickets to enter Dufan theme park. I visited during weekdays, so, there were not so many visitors. Or even if it's crowded, it's not as crowded as if it's a holiday or weekend. With not so many visitors, the duration to queue for rides is not too long. I prefer this kind of situation.

The entrance I used was the HAILAI entrance. Yes, that's the name. And indeed, since my first visit here until the current visit, this entrance has not changed. The roof on the car park bar is similar to that of a wave, and on top of it, there are berry frames built as if crossing each other. Now, this part, I don't know what the philosophy is.

After that, near the ticket queue, there was a mural depicting various marine life.

After purchasing the tickets, we started to enter the Dufan area. From the ticket queue, there is a neatly built path, which is also covered with a roof. So, this can be an alternative for visitors if they want shade. Or just a short break from the heat. However, this is only at the front before entering the rides area. This path is a new building. Because it didn't exist before.

There is a field in the middle of which there is a kind of monument like Rapunzel Tower with the inscription DUFAN, while under the monument there are statues of Dufan mascots who are members of a marching band like a circus troupe. Almost this entire area, the floor is made of terra cotta material, although a small part is not. But what is typical of the playground is the Terra Cotta floor.

START EXPLORING THE RIDES

  • Ontang-Anting

IMG_20240327_170216_670.jpg

IMG_20240327_170216_685.jpg

This is my favourite ride that I always go on when I go to Dufan. Every time I ride this ride, I feel like I'm flying, but not too extreme. For me, Ontang-anting is on the medium level. I don't feel nauseous or dizzy, while my friend feels a little dizzy after riding this ride.

As for the design of this ride, it has been exactly like this for a long time, so there are no updates in terms of design, maybe only maintenance on the engine and other things.

  • Cartoon World

The Cartoon World area is just an imitation of castles from cartoons. This area is great for kids. Here, visitors can meet and take pictures with two mascots from Dufan. The names are Dufan (the male one) and Dufi (the female mascot). According to the story, the character of Dufan's mascots is a monkey of the proboscis monkey species, which is included in the protected fauna category.

What's fun about this Cartoon World ride is that its design is certainly very striking with a variety of colours. Also, there are some unique buildings in this area. The cartoon world is also a new ride, It's a fresh new design, the impression of the Dream world that is the tagline of DUFAN is more pronounced here.

  • Hysteria

IMG_20240327_165944.jpg

The next ride I rode was Hysteria, I certainly couldn't take photos while riding this ride because it is very dangerous to take photos/video while riding Hysteria. Visitors will sit on chairs surrounding the two towers, then the seat belt is tightened, and... wuuushhh... we are thrown 30 metres! After being thrown, we would be thrown down and I think my heart was still above. LOL

was very satisfied with this ride. This is my first time trying Hysteria, because it is in the category of new rides. Actually after finishing this ride, I wanted to ride again, but I felt lazy to queue again, because the fans of this ride are quite a lot. Isn't it obvious that the pole behind me is as high as parents' expectations? LOL I mean, this is very high. Designed to be very safe and sturdy of course. Seats with very strong safety, so visitors do not have to worry.

  • Turangga-rangga

IMG_20240327_165911.jpg

Now here is a ride that makes visitors feel like they are walking into the past. Turangga-rangga is a carousel ride that is always available in almost all amusement parks. This ride is like a time machine. Just looking from the outside, people can remember many things. Surprisingly, most sweet memories are born from the carousel. This is an old design. Turangga-rangga is designed with many ethnic elements that echo Indonesian characteristics. If you look closely and look at the details, you can see some carvings that are a combination of several ethnicities. Turangga-rangga is very beautiful.

  • Mystery Train

IMG_20240327_170107.jpg

IMG_20240327_170030.jpg

The next ride is the Mystery Train. This is also a new ride. So I happily queued to try this ride. It was very dark inside and I couldn't take photos. This ride is similar to a roller coaster only smaller, but you know what makes this ride interesting? The whole design of the ride is set up with a horror theme, from the black and dark queue area, the shocking sound effects, and the ride inside is completely dark. Visitors really can't see the route of the roller coaster inside. So, the sensation is more gripping.

Also, from the outside, the Mystery Train ride is built with a gothic design in the style of a vampire kingdom, perhaps? It also includes souvenir outlets such as clothes, mugs, or typical Dufan dolls.

  • The Puppet Palace

IMG_20240327_170120.jpg

IMG_20240327_170135.jpg

This is a very educational ride and great for kids. The puppet palace is a quiet water ride with songs of the archipelago. In this ride, it contains knowledge about various tribes from countries in the world. In addition to tribes, there are also traditions, flora and fauna, all of which are illustrated by very interesting dolls.

The Palace of puppets is exactly the same as the first time I was here, from the outside it is designed to resemble a fairytale palace of course. It is not walkable, but all passengers have to take a small boat to get around the palace. Because the path inside the palace is water.
How is it? Curious about amusement parks in Jakarta? Let's create your imagination with Dunia Fantasi.

That was my trip with my three friends. We were quite tired even though there are still many rides that we haven't tried. Maybe next time, I will visit again to enjoy other rides.

Definitely dear @titisnariyah. We are here to help each other learn and grow. Thank you for your valuable contributions! 😀

I love the entrance to the park and its curved roofs, it is a wonderful place. I would be happy there

If we're close neighbors, maybe we'll spend a holiday here together once in a while? while chatting about Hive and others like it's fun🤩

The park is huge, it reminds me of my weekends with my parents and brother during the childhood stage. Your post fills me with beautiful memories 🥰

Amusement parks are always present in our memories and hearts, right?❤️

No doubt about it!!!😊

I love amusement parks, they're kinda special for our inner child as you mention. I loved that there were several attractions Indonesia themed, that's awesome and I'd say kinda difficult. I felt like I visited the place with you through the photos ☺️

Yep. Dufan did it. Oh... even my stories and photos seem to really take us together? ha ha ha

Thank you for loving my work, dear @ronrronea

This is a huge investment if I may say. But they did great work with the new innovation. Love it

The innovation is truly amazing, right? I'm also happy that Dufan provides that for its visitors.
