Hello friends
Today I present to you the pride of my city.
To put you in a situation, I will tell you that my city was an industrial city that was almost dead.
When they told us that an original project was going to be done and it would be one of the most prestigious museums in Europe.
The people of Bilbao have a lot of fame of braggarts and we all said:
It is a Bilbainada.
The location would be on the shore of the estuary.
An estuary that at that time was polluted and the abandoned land of an old factory.
We were all expectant as our city was dying and aging little by little.
But all this changed in 1993 Frank Gehry began the works of this project.
The truth is that I have no words to say what this has meant for us.
The city began to raise its head, to be proud and appreciate the design and the new materials.
In 1997 it was over.
Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Now he makes everyone visit him, tourists come to see him, but that's another matter.
I always tell you that I have no idea of architecture and design, but seeing him, living with him there is something that I am very clear about.
That Frank Gehry, made not a building but a work of art.
A metal body with titanium skin as if it were a fish.
We used 33,000 pieces of titanium half a millimeter thick, each unique and with a slightly different color.
The shape from above is like a boat, which is very appropriate in my city.
The shapes are unique, curves and unimaginable angles.
It is also a building that changes, depending on the weather, something that few buildings can say adapts to our mood, because it does not reflect like glass buildings, but camouflages itself like a chameleon.
He looks like Narciso in the estuary but he deserves it.
Glass, titanium and concrete formed something unique and made my entire city begin to modernize.
Each viewing angle is different, a unique building, inside and out.
All this seen from a distance.
When you enter the building, everything is spacious and bright modernity.
Particularly the museum is the building, with its rooms with modern, avant-garde exhibitions and many times I do not understand.
As I was saying, thanks to him, our city has received a number of tourists, which has recovered us from the industrial crisis and not only that, but it has also removed pollution by becoming a city with cultured tourism.
He has also achieved more, to appreciate architectural art and to think that if we modernize we create beauty and prosperity.
I suppose Frank Gehry will be proud of his creation, but we are more than safe, he changed us, he brought us into the 21st century with beauty, he taught us to appreciate different architecture, not tall towers brushing the sky as if they had no end .
Rather, a ship put us on land, a ship full of dreams and illusions.

Happy Friday @old-guy-photos
Hi. A few years back we visited northern Spain and the two days in Bilbao we will never forget. First afternoon touring the city a little and the Guggenheim outside ; we then slept in a luxury hotel in walking distance to the Guggenheim and went in the next morning very early before the hords! Amazing artwork of a portugues lady and more.
Here a forbidden inside picture
hello friend what a great image, I do not understand exhibitions many times hehe
I love that you would like my house and I hope you have a great memory
Thanks for coming and commenting @goldrooster
Espectacular.

Wow! I was excited when I saw your post title! The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is recognized as one of the signature architectural masterpieces of globally-renowned architect Frank Gehry! Sporting the Deconstructivism, Contemporary, and Expressionist style of architecture, this is truly a remarkable building to behold! In fact, if it was not for this prestigious project, the industrial urban center of Bilbao would still have remained a sleeping industrial metropolis. Today, this world-class museum is one of Spain's most popular cultural and leisure destinations!
I love how the playfulness of interconnected volumes and organic titanium-clad shapes have assembled together to form an incredibly stunning piece of architecture. Thank you @txatxy for showcasing the pride of your city! Fantastic post!
Hi, friend
How right you are? He is great and creates, apart from functional buildings, pure beauty, that is something that I appreciate very much.
The buildings are resistant and without secondary problems, I say this for Calatrava that I suppose you will know, one day I will put what he has done in my city, we could say that it is beautiful but not functional and durable.
As I mentioned, I am not an architect but I can see the beauty and the effort, my father was a bricklayer and something always sticks hahaha.
I am very grateful for your support and that you like my entries
Happy Friday @storiesoferne
Oh yes, Santiago Calatrava is also another world-renowned architect from Spain. I look forward to experiencing more architectural gems from your country. Thank you for your great interest in architecture and for choosing our community in publishing your awesome content! Have a beautiful weekend!

OMG!! I always have a dream to explore this museum, Guggenheim a titanium chameleon-Bilbao by Frank Gehry. The dynamism of the entire form caught my eyes when I was a student of architecture. Till then I have been dreaming of exploring this masterpiece in person...This is one of the astounding examples of dynamic modern architecture...
Great post...
Hello friend, one day I hope you see it in person, it is more than a poor hairdresser will teach you hehe
But I think I have managed to give you an idea of the beauty of it and what it has contributed to our city.

This was the best one. I always wanted to visit the place, hope one day soon. This is the structure which inspired so many of my college designs.
The pictures are wonderful, your keen interest towards the architecture of the structures portraits through the picture of details.
Do you know the Architect of the building Frank Gehry made the sketch of this building while travelling in a plane , getting inspired from the mountain ranges beneath it.
Great post, Have a wonderful weekend :)
