El manto de Maria es una arquitectura dedicada a la Divina Pastora, que es la patrona de Barquisimeto. Todos los 14 de enero se realiza una procesión por toda la ciudad con la imagen de la virgen. Este icono de la ciudad fue inaugurado en el 2016.
Mide 62 metros de altura y esta situado en una colina lo que hace que se observe por casi toda la ciudad, incluso se puede llegar a ver desde otro estado llamado Yaracuy. Lo que la hace ser el monumento Mariano mas alto del mundo.
Para llegar a la terraza hay que subir unos 296 escalones aproximadamente, tiene 4 mezzaninas donde se va descansando y hay un guía turístico que va contando la historia, tiene un ascensor pero este lo utilizan para personas discapacitadas. En la entrada de la torre hay una puerta que mide 9 metros donde esta escrito el padre nuestro en Braille en la siguiente foto se puede observar el manto desde la mezzanina de noche y de día.

Esta imagen esta hecha con 3772 tubos de aluminio bañados en pintura negra, cabe destacar que también es la obra cinética mas grande del mundo, definitivamente es una obra impecable y hermosa, ademas que con un significado muy importante para todo el gentilicio barquisimetano.
En mi experiencia, cuando estas en el sitio, se siente mucha paz ademas que el sonido de los tubos moverse con el viento, es muy relajante, ademas que por estar ubicada en una colina, el clima es bastante frió. Lastimosamente por la pandemia esta se encuentra cerrada pero se tiene la oportunidad de observarse en cualquier avenida de la ciudad por su altura. No duden en visitar esta maravillosa obra cuando tengan la oportunidad!!!
