When my friend asked me to staycation together, I have never know that we would went to a hotel which's former a colonial building. It was Grand City Hall located in Medan, precise in front of Merdeka Hall, and near from Medan Station.
As I read from source, It said that the building was the former town hall building who's started in 1906 by the office of Architectural Consultants Hulswit & Fermont, Weltevreden, in collaboration with consultant Ed Cuypers from Amsterdam.
In Medan, there's so many building with Europeans touch like Grand City Hall. This building was side by side with Bank Indonesia building which then the Town Hall Building bought by the city council for their office. That building, at first destined to Javasche office.
The interesting about that building (yup, we still talking about that building, not the interior yet) that seems like Europe building without leave a luxurious impression. That was because, at that time (1909) the members mostly were Europeans. Then, at 1917 The city council did open chance to indigenous, Tionghoa, and India become The council member.
Okay, It was the flash history about The Former Hall Building that now become one of luxury hotel in Medan. Even though, Grand Hotel City become a luxury hotel, the management didn't leave european touch in every side that hotel.
Interior Our Room, It Was Honeymoon Room
When my friend said that she's get the big discount from this hotel, I have never complaint about how the room, and what the price cause at that time I really know nothing about hotel in Medan. Yup, I leave all the business at her and when the day comes, I'm only follow her. She's said that this room has Jacuzzi, the thing that she wants to get in the hotel. But at that time, she can't use that Jacuzzi cause so busy to do. Hohoho...
Okay, let's take a look the interior of the hotel.
The Lobby
It was big lobby. Can you see the door with 'D'Heritage'? It was a hotel restaurant and you can see the style was europeans touch.
Now we are moving to our corridor. Our room at 9th floor, if it's not slipped in my mind.
The Corridor
I don't like their carpet, cause it made my luggage can be easy to go so I have to pull it more.
Now we enter the room. Surprisingly, that room was so big and specially for newlywed. So it has one big bed and big room.
The Room
Now we move to the highlight of this hotel. It was the jacuzzi.
The Jacuzzi
The left side (photo) the view if you close the bamboo curtain, and the right photo was the view if you open the curtain. It's really transparan.
The Amenitiest
And it is my favorite spot
It is remind me to the japanesse chair. So cozy and comfortable. We eat, drink a cup of tea, and enjoy the view from that spot. Even I worked from that spot. Yeah, at the night I have to on duty :D
Another Beautiful Spot
Outside, near in swimming pool, there's a beautiful spot. It was like a field that visitor can enjoy a party or event. And the view to above was so beautiful and ancient. Let me show to you guys..
Staycation at hotel was the best choice that you can had to healing from stress after work, study, or another condition that made you fed up. I really recommended to you to staycation in this hotel cause it is not just lux but cozy and more quiet. The hotel service was a good thing that can make you more comfort.
Actually there's another aspect that I love from this hotel unless the historical build and the service. It was the food. May be later.
Thank's for reading my blog.
