Hi Architecture+Design fellows..
Let me tell you that, lately, there have been a lot of library videos filling my social media homepage, that's why when I'm near the location, I will take the time to stop by. Lately, I like being in a library that certainly doesn't have many noisy people. Although I doubt I will find an interesting book there, I will try to stop by there, at least once. Libraries nowadays have interesting interior designs that will invite many young people to come to them. For me, this is good because people will start to like to stay in the library for a long time. Whether they read books or not, maybe that will gradually happen.
When I checked my digital map, I found that there was a library near the hostel where I was staying. The library is called Orchard Library or is written as library@Orchard. As the name suggests, this library is indeed located around Orchard Street, but finding it is not as easy as you might think.
This is an unforgettable experience because I have been going around the same area many times to find this library. Long story short, I finally managed to stop by this library after asking the mall security. Yes, this library is in the mall. I have been around the mall before. It is true what the Indonesian proverb says, Shame to ask, you will lost on the way. He he he
Let me invite you to stroll around the library...
Unique & Amazing Architecture & Design
Okay, let me continue the story after asking the mall security. Throughout the journey to the security's instructions, I kept cursing myself because I felt very good at solving the search for the way to the library alone. In fact, I had gone around the mall many times outside and inside but failed to find it. It seemed like I gave up on the fifth round, ha ha ha.
When I arrived at the front entrance, all the cursing for myself disappeared. All of that was replaced with amazement and pride, finally I could visit one of the coolest libraries in Singapore.
Can you guess how excited I was to be there?

Let's moving forward to this entrance...
Since Singapore is a city that is still foreign to me, I was very nervous when I was about to pass through this entrance. I made sure that to pass through I did not make any mistakes such as not scanning the QR, so I stopped for a moment and made sure that to enter the library there was no registration required. Luckily, there were other people who casually passed through the door without scanning anything, so I was saved from my ignorance. I followed the people and became more excited to explore the library. Look, how happy I was to see the white shelves with rows of books welcoming me. I felt like jumping because I was so happy to be there.
The more I walked, the more I knew that this library was huge, even having two floors. I didn’t know where to start and couldn’t think of what genre of book I wanted to read because I was already immersed in the interior design and the shelves there.

So, let’s talk about the interior design of this room which is dominated by white and wooden brown. All the bookshelves have a similar color, which is white with a unique design. Many shelves curve like the curve of waves in every child’s drawing. It is very beautiful and has a high aesthetic value.

I walked continuously and looked for every shelf and didn't find any books that were interesting to read, so I continued my exploration. I kept going through shelf after shelf to find interesting books. It would be a shame if I was there but there wasn't a single book that I could read, in the sense that it would interest me to take it on the shelf.
Before moving to the second floor, look at what looks beautiful in my sight. It is a reading platform located in the middle of the bookshelves on the 1st floor from the stairs to the second floor. It is very beautiful. Seeing people sitting solemnly with their books and work makes my lips curl. Seeing those people is quite calming, let alone if we read there too. It is a really pleasant situation where there is no noisy sound, annoying remarks, and side-eyes from other people who don't know me and feel annoyed by my presence.
Oh my goodness, let's just go to the second floor.
Let's Take A Look The 2nd Floor
I had the same hope when I went up to the second floor, to find a book to read. I found it, eventually, but let me show you around first. On the second floor, the interior design of the library is more complex.

In addition to the bookshelves, there is also a personal reading room, where you will not be disturbed by other visitors when reading. Interestingly, in the corner of the room there are also chairs facing the window so that when you read, you will also be presented with a view of Orchard Road, which looks calming even though the road looks busy. Does this sound unconvincing? In fact, the chairs are filled with readers. I can't show them, because I'm afraid they will be disturbed when I take their pictures.

There are also some unique bookshelves in the middle of the room, where the shelves only display best-selling books from several categories. I looked at it and still didn't interest me, then I walked to another shelf.
I found many readers sitting in the cabin on the second floor. They looked focused and solemn when reading so that my steps were ignored by them. I walked around and finally found an interesting book on the shelf for lifestyle books. I took it to an empty cabin and started enjoying my reading.

Of the many places I have visited in Singapore, I visited and stayed at the Orchard Library for quite a long time. But it was still not long enough and I felt like going back there again. I had finished one writing there and finally, because of that, I returned to the hostel late in the evening.

In general, this library has a minimalist architecture by combining plain patterns so that visitors feel comfortable being there. Likewise in terms of the selection of unique furniture. The library is truly a must-visit place when you need peace.

The library has a nice facade, I like the wavy shelves on the second floor, the second floor is more beautiful and cozy, the shape of the shelves is striking, in such a library I would spend several hours.

I am sitting in the second floors which have personal cabin to reading like that. That was the only cabin that empty because lots of people there.

This is one of the best-designed libraries I've seen! It has certainly made clever use of its spaces to maximize storage, display areas, plus comfortable furniture and amenities for visitors. From the looks of it, bookworms and people from all walks of life will certainly feel at home here. Singapore is indeed a haven of architectural marvels @viviehardika. ☺️
