¡¡Hola Hivers!!
Hello Hivers!!!
It is a pleasure to be here in the architecture community, I recently went to a shopping center in the city of Maracay which is very busy and that I visit from time to time and I said to myself why not do a post about the architecture of this beautiful shopping center, which attracts a lot of attention.
First of all, this mall used to be a textile factory, so it preserves its original architecture with some small changes, this textile factory was emblematic of the city and it was necessary to preserve such a beautiful architectural work.
The shopping center Paseo Estación Central owes its name to the old railroad station that was adjacent to this building, this shopping center has three entrances one on the side of the constitution avenue, another at the front of Mariño street crossing with Paéz street.
The photo I took makes reference to the constitution street in front at the traffic light, stars shopping center is a linear architecture of three floors, and it is linear because many of the users who visit it are pedestrians, I would say that it is a shopping center easily accessible and more elapsed than others, of course it has a large parking lot very nice and outdoors.
The mall offers on the outside on one side its cement stairs in the form of spiral, with stainless steel handrails, if I am not mistaken there are only 1 single staircase of this and also have an elevator that is pure glass where you can see the landscape, both located on the same side.
The internal stairs if they are escalators that work all the time, are comfortable and are the most used, I think the previous one is like an ornament for the mall as they are little used.
Its facade is Deco style, of course there are some modifications especially in the windows that give life to this great building, and is what captures more attention of people, are tinted windows and always keep them clean everywhere, as you can see in the photo below.
In the shopping center you can see the pipes that remain from what was the old textile factory, in most of the stores in the upper part you can see the pipes, also in the food part they placed small modifications placing lights, but they also left clear parts where you can see what were the pipes where the smoke came out of the factory, In the corridors you can also see strong iron columns that are not only in the corridors but also in the stores, in the bathrooms, some columns were covered with cement, but many of them were left and only painted as decoration for the shopping center itself.
There are stores of all kinds from natural products, clothing stores, cell phone stores, shoes, among others, we also have the food area where there are restaurants and food stalls or cafes, something that I really like in the food part is that they have two wings as balconies, which overlook outside and are some spaces to eat where there are also parties or can be rented for an event, plus you can see the front of the city depending on the wing that you are.
Something emblematic and that catches my attention and I like how it looks, is this aerial water tank that formerly belonged to the Maracay looms and they left it in the center of the parking lot as an ornament for the mall, you can see that before something was written there and it was the logo of the mall welcoming all users, it has been erased with the sun, but it gives an incredible view to the landscape and the style of the mall.
I hope if one day you have the opportunity you can enjoy this mall that really has been a place of distraction for all the inhabitants of the state of Aragua.

Isn't it fun to explore a piece of architecture with an interesting past? The mall of Paseo Estacion Central with its previous life as a textile factory is obvious proof of how historic buildings can creatively adapt to the changing times. Amazing! 👍

A good example of change of use. The truth is that the designers did a great job to adapt the old factory to this modern structure. Excellent publication my dear @yolimarag , you give to know the things of our region. A big hug.
Hi @yolimarag, welcome to the architecture community, very interesting the history of the mall, several members of my family had the opportunity to work in Maracay looms, the remodeling they did to the store is simply spectacular, I loved the spiral stairs and the tinted windows; the aerial tank gives it a great style, between modern and contemporary, also reminds us how our parents stored water.
Happy and blessed Sunday!
