I have a lovely red glass hummingbird feeder hanging where I can see it from my comfy chair, where I spend my time on Hive. It was a gift from my daughter and I fill it with the recommended 'nectar' recipe that I make using 4parts water:1part sugar. The tiny humming birds love it.
For a short time each sunny morning I can see the shadow of the hummingbird feeder on the frame of the window. And occasionally I can see this shadow of the hummingbird, but it is always distorted by the window frame and lost among the other shadows. Even zooming in or cropping did not give me the Shadow photo I was hoping for.
Yesterday I got the bright idea to set up a piece of white art board for the Shadow to project onto.
While still not perfect, partly because of the texture of the white board, I got the best hummingbird shadows that I have been able to get yet.

.And hummingbirds can't find food for themselves in the summer? After all, there are many flowers around.
They can and do! I plant many flowers in pots on my deck that they enjoy. The feeder is certainly not their sole source of food.
I was just thinking along that line too. Quite a number of sources anyway
The best thing about Bird feeders of any kind is that it gives you opportunities to observe and photograph birds closer than you normally can!
Now that's a clever idea, and not too bad photos. I probably should buy a hummingbird feeder to get some better shots of hummingbird. A tripod is also on the list since I do not have one.
I have found that bird feeders are a photographers friend. This small bendy tripods are not expensive and are so functional.
Cute shadows..👌

hello dear friend @ melinda010100 good afternoon
You are very creative, you have had a great ideal creating this white background where it projects a beautiful shadow. Excellent shots
I take advantage of to wish you a splendid afternoon. enjoy it a lot
Super creative. love it. Such awesome little birds. So dainty, so clever. You are very fortunate to have them visit you all the time. Great little shadows :-)
They do seem to enjoy stopping by to fuel up at my feeder! And I certainly appreciate having them stop by. I love watching them going from flower to flower out on my deck and each year I learn more about which flowers are their favorites, so that I can plant them again next year.
aah very mindful. love it. I have 3 cats and I do put out birdseed but I need to set up catproof bird feeders as I'd hate to be responsible for my little guys catching one of them. They already bring in the mice from the fields. So far it's mainly the greedy pidgeons and magpies who chance it🤣 but we live across the road from woodland with a plethora of birdlife so would love to draw them to the garden safely🙏
I have had cats and have never had one harm a bird. Makes sure your feeder is in the open, at least 10 feet from any place your cat might hide.
Now chipmunks? Poor things. That's another story.
Putting your creative cells to work. It worked nicely. Great job!
Not perfect shadows, but better than nothing!
