Last Call
The website for USAID has essentially been reduced to a message to the last employee, to please turn off the lights, and lock the doors on their way out.
Follow the Money
It is likely that some form of the USAID will survive but in a substantially reduced form. USAID certainly has run some projects that have had positive impact, but many of it's projects are demonstrably financial vehicles to move money around the world. Constricting or auditing money to NGOs or nonprofits will inadvertently hamstring a large segment of the political class in the United States. I predict that resistance to President Trump will reach a fever pitch in the US within the next month, and organizers will put people in the streets by Spring, while there is still money to do so.
Good riddance. !BBH
