For this weeks Show Us Your California contest by @socalsteemit Pup and I head out for an overnight backpacking trip to...
Bear Creek!!
Pup and I headed up into the San Gabriel mountains to the West Fork trailhead. We hiked out the road that follows the Westfork of the San Gabriel river to the junction with Bear creek. From there we hiked a few miles up the Bear creek trail and found a nice little camping spot. We setup our camp and enjoyed a calm peaceful night in the mountains and then the next morning we hiked back out the same way we hiked in.

Sweet friend why dont you enter the @adalger #amazingnature contest with these great photos
Ah yes. I have been wanting to enter that contest! I'll enter with one of my next posts for sure!
The fungi appears to be honey mushrooms.
Cool! I need to get better at mushroom identification. I'm good with knowing plants, but the technicalities with identifying mushrooms have always intimidated me from really getting into it. I wonder if Honey mushrooms taste like honey? lol.
Honey mushrooms have some poisonous subspecies and even the edible ones need to be cooked a certain way to remove toxins. I tend to never eat them too risky. There is the deadly galerina honey mushroom that will kill you if eaten. As for taste of the edible ones they have a firmer texture with a more nutty flavor rather than a deep mushroom flavor, but the texture is often too tough to be palatable. The main cool thing about the ones you found is they might be bioluminescent. Its very faint but a long camera exposure on them in pitch black will show them glowing green.
Oh, that's interesting!! Thanks for all the info!
I think this is the type you found https://www.mushroomexpert.com/armillaria_mellea.html

Why does my community have it's own account? I'm so confused right now.
