❝Every November 9th I’ll wait for you, hoping one day you’ll be able to find enough forgiveness to love me again. But if that doesn’t happen and you never show, I’ll still be grateful to you until the day that I die.❞
The ninth of November is not just today's date. It is also the title of a book by author Colleen Hoover. It was on this day that two people accidentally met in a restaurant. Since then, for the next five years, they have met every year in the same place at the same time, with no contact with each other beyond those very meetings.
Ben and Fallon only see each other once a year, and on a daily basis they each live their own lives. Both are wronged by fate. Fallon nearly died in a fire and Ben is dealing with the consequences of his mother's suicide. The characters are supportive of each other and all events lead to the most ordinary happy ending.
However, it turns out that one of them has been hiding a secret all along that could affect their relationship. This plot twist made me change my attitude to the whole story. I felt sorry that events took a wrong turn and that the characters often made ill-considered decisions. I also know that these situations introduced the theme of fighting for true love and mutual forgiveness, but the story still seems unrealistic.
The book contains a great deal of quotations that I liked and identified with. I particularly enjoyed the many references to the love of reading. The plot of the book, as well as the well-crafted characters, make it hard to stop reading. The story evokes many different emotions in the reader, like an explosive mixture. It seems to me that one will either love it or hate it.

Dziewiąty listopada to nie tylko dzisiejsza data. Jest to również tytuł książki autorstwa Colleen Hoover. Właśnie tego dnia dwójka ludzi przypadkowo spotkała się w restauracji. Od tamtej chwili przez następne pięć lat spotykają się co rok w tym samym miejscu o tej samej porze, nie mając żadnego kontaktu ze sobą poza tymi właśnie spotkaniami.
Ben i Fallon widzą się tylko raz w roku, a na codzień każde z nich żyje swoim życiem. Oboje są skrzywdzeni przez los. Fallon o mały włos nie zginęła w pożarze, a Ben mierzy się z konsekwencjami samobójczej śmierci swojej matki. Bohaterowie są dla siebie wsparciem i wszystkie wydarzenia prowadzą do najzwyklejszego, szczęśliwego happy endu.
Jednakże okazuje się, że jedno z nich od początku skrywało sekret, który mógłby zaważyć na ich relacji. Ten plot twist sprawił, że zmieniłam swoje nastawienie do całej historii. Było mi przykro, że wydarzenia obrały niewłaściwy tor, a bohaterowie często podejmowali nieprzemyślane decyzje. Wiem też, że te sytuacje wprowadziły wątek walki o prawdziwą miłość i wzajemnego przebaczenia, ale nadal opowieść wydaje się nierealna.
Książka zawiera bardzo dużo cytatów, które mi się spodobały i z którymi się utożsamiam. Cieszę się zwłaszcza z licznych nawiązań do zamiłowania do czytania. Fabuła książki, jak i dobrze wykreowani bohaterowie sprawiają, że ciężko przerwać czytanie. Historia budzi w czytelniku wiele różnych emocji, niczym mieszanka wybuchowa. Wydaje mi się, że albo się ją pokocha, albo znienawidzi.
This is one of the books of my favorite author and I've never read it, I would try it as soon as possible.
