Hello, dear Hive community, I hope you are doing great. Today I want to share a review of a pretty good book. I usually read digitally because it is more comfortable for me, and I forget a bit the books I have on my shelves (which are few). However, I have one or the other that is worth it, and that is the case of "Sparkling Cyanide" by Agatha Christie.
This is a story I got quite some time ago in a used bookstore in my city. It didn't cost me much, and I think it belongs to a collection, which I will investigate when I go up there again.
Personally, this book had caught my attention because it was about a beautiful woman named Rosemary Barton, who was everything a woman could want at the time: rich and pretty. So, it's hardly believable that she would want to take her own life with cyanide in her glass, is it?
I expected nothing less from the author, of whom I had read her biography and I consider her to be quite an interesting person. Although I had never read a book of hers, I consider that I started off on the right foot because her pen could not have been more interesting and intriguing throughout the story. Although it's a short book, it leaves no loose ends, and for me, who am always surprised with who the culprit was, it was no exception in this work.
It can be said that we see the perspective of several characters, starting with that of Rosemary's sister, Iris Marle. She starts with the premise that her sister was not entirely happy and had a lover, but he left her, which leads her to question whether it was in fact suicide. Things get much more interesting when she realizes that all is not what it seems, especially when her sister's widowed husband starts receiving notes.Personally, this book had caught my attention because it is about a beautiful woman named Rosemary Barton, who was everything a woman could want at the time: rich and pretty. So, it's hardly believable that she would want to take her own life with cyanide in her glass, is it?
It is very entertaining to read this book because there are different perspectives in all the chapters, which allows you to get to know each character better and, at the same time, to distrust everyone. The reading is light and constantly moving; you never get bored reading it.
I would give it a 4/5 stars, for the setting, the characters and the almost perfect crime scene. Sometimes I think the culprit was a bit far fetched, as we are painted something else in the beginning, but if it makes sense in the end, then I'm not complaining.Have you ever read an Agatha Christie book?

I haven't read an Agatha Christie book but I'd really love to. And the idea of anyone committing suicide,be it someone far gone in the wonderful aspects of life or not shouldn't be something surprising but it is. It is said,"Money or wealth isn't really the source of some happiness", she probably had other things going on and couldn't stand it anymore. I'd like to read it. Sike, I've added it to my tbr list already.
