Pet cematary of Stephen King

in Hive Book Club3 years ago
Welcome my dear friends of Hive Book Club in this opportunity I will talk briefly about one of the books of the great Stephen King titled: Animal Cemetery. I can recommend it for its good science fiction, horror plot and narrative, as well as for being a book that invites us to reflect on life and death. I hope you stay to read until the end and without further reference, your friend @ava2702 bids you farewell.

Pet Sematary ells the story of a young family who move into a large white stone and wood house in Ludlow, with them goes Church the cat of Louis' daughter, Eileen. It is not until they move in, however, that Louis meets the man who should have been his father, it should be noted that when he was a child he lost his biological parents at the tender age of three and never knew his grandparents.

In the first part of the book, Louis, Rachel, Eileen and Gage, members of the Creed family, find themselves adjusting to the new house, the neighborhood, Louis' new job at the University of Maine and his new life in a different state than the one they were familiar with. Thus, the plot continues as Jud Crandall enters the scene at the moment Gage finds himself being stung by a developed bee, introductions are duly made and a clear invitation to his home by Crandall to Louis. Likewise, Ellie wanders off a bit towards a path which she points out and Mr. Crandall promises to someday tell her where the path leads.

From a promise, is that the whole plot of the book begins to develop. In a few words, it is when Mr. Creed agrees to have a few beers with old Crandall in his house, when the latter explains to her after several drinks, where the path that Ellie saw earlier is and where it leads to. The name he gave her for the place was "The Animal Cemetery", but was he really talking about that cemetery? Besides telling her a few stories of people who tragically lost their beloved pets, what was going on with Highway 15 and the precautions that had to be taken to live in the country.

After two weeks of the Creed family getting used to their new life, especially Louis, who was beginning to see the new duties of his new position as a doctor at the University of Maine, the weeks went by without so many setbacks.

That Saturday, when Ellie had finished her first week of school and Louis was about to start college, Jud Crandall approached the Creed family with a growing enthusiasm and a bit of eagerness to fulfill the promise he had made to Ellie a few weeks ago. It all starts out as a smooth and satisfying exploration for all, even as Jud makes the little girl promise not to go off the path leading to Pet Sematary made by children, a promise that was quieter than it appeared to be.

Pet Sematary seemed to be even older than the cemetery for people, a very interesting and relevant fact in this story and you will know it later or when you get ready to read the book. But have you ever thought about how curious the artificial and studied ways in which the logs stood between the animal cemetery and the great forests beyond? And in the relationship the woods have to the story Jud Crandall shared with Louis, about the Indians? It is here that Ellie makes her first real contact with the mysteriousness of death and burial even more so, finding herself unable to accept that Church will pass away someday, as we all naturally do.

Subsequently, Louis had his first contact with students who had some strange behaviors, which gave a good scare to the doctor who was beginning to get upset with the subject of Pet Sematary, and is that, with the tragic death of Victor Pascow, a student at the University of Maine, Louis begins to live experiences out of the ordinary, from a very vivid dream in which Pascow guides him out of his marital bed in the middle of the night to the path that leads to the cemetery, being totally unable to control his own movements, despite not wanting to go there. While having a conversation with himself, he realized that he was still walking behind a dead man towards Pet Sematary, realizing also that none of what was happening was a dream, but a fact.

But, not everything about that fact is bad, on the contrary, Pascow tells him that he came as a friend and as such, he let him know several warnings that he should never ignore, even if he wished it, and it was nothing more than the barrier at the end of the animal cemetery, the barrier that was raised to be respected; he even emphasizes that in that place there is a force greater than we can imagine, an ancient and very powerful force. Apparently all this incredible experience caused Louis a nervous breakdown that soon manifested itself in laughter and fear.

Finally, from that day on, nothing was ever the same again, despite Mr. Creed repeating over and over again that it was a normal day. And it is here dear readers, when science fiction begins to make a dent in our curiosity and anxious to know what will happen next and when ... but do not be overwhelmed, the thread of the story is very well narrated and even very entertaining, as not to forget at times that part, Again I invite you to read the book and dispel all your doubts to learn the continuation and the most relevant data that has this novel by the great Stephen King. Your friend @ava2702 bids you farewell.

I remember the first movie, so creepy to me because I was a kid.

Oh yes, movies are always more terrifying than books.

The translation is a bit messy. Genders mixed up and it's confusing for me if certain names are male or female. The word "cemetery" is written differently too and to be honest I still don't know what the fiction, horror or interesting part is about the cemetery and if it's in their garden? I will google for it and see what others write.

The introduction to new characters in the book is written dull (boring) or am I mistaken?
