No sé identificarles la cantidad de pensamientos (todos positivos) que rondan actualmente en mi cabeza luego de haber terminado con ésta lectura. Paulo Coelho es uno de los escritores más leídos alrededor del mundo, oriundo de Brasil y ha publicado más de 25 libros.
El Alquimista nos relata el camino que emprende Santiago, un pastor andaluz que a raíz de un sueño repetido y varios encuentros fortuitos, decide emprender un viaje hacía Egipto en busca de un tesoro.
Al principio pensé que el libro se trataba de una historia más de búsqueda del tesoro, pero el mensaje comenzó a transformarse en algo más espiritual en dónde terminé viendo la historia en sí como una metáfora.
Recalcando siempre la importancia de seguir nuestros sueños siempre desde la bondad del corazón y del amor en sí, en donde el miedo puede ser aceptado pero no predominante.

I can't tell you the number of thoughts (all positive) that are currently running through my head after finishing this reading. Paulo Coelho is one of the most widely read writers in the world, originally from Brazil and has published more than 25 books.
The Alchemist tells the story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd who, as a result of a repeated dream and several fortuitous encounters, decides to embark on a journey to Egypt in search of treasure.
At first I thought the book was more of a treasure hunt story, but the message began to transform into something more spiritual where I ended up seeing the story itself as a metaphor.
Always emphasizing the importance of following our dreams always from the goodness of the heart and love itself, where fear can be accepted but not predominant.

Honestamente me pareció una novela inspiradora, en dónde sin duda alguna he podido sacar docenas de frases que me han despertado ese espíritu de querer comerse al mundo, de ayudar, amar y seguir soñando. Aunque es una historia bastante corta, lo cierto es que logra dejarte siempre con algo.
Es un libro que se disfruta mucho, especialmente porque te permite soñar, pero claro, si eres escéptico a todo el tema de la espiritualidad o de plano, no te gusta para nada, su obra te parecerá muy simple o una perdida de tiempo desde un principio. En mí caso fue todo lo contrario.
Siempre me ha gustado la idea de entender que el universo trabaja a nuestro favor y que siempre que estemos alineados con el podremos conseguir muchas cosas. Esto es el mensaje que transmite el libro realmente, de hecho, es de las frases que más repite: «el Universo entero conspira para que puedas realizar tus sueños».
Sí, es una lectura bastante simple, podríamos hacerlo pasar por un cuento para niños y entraría en la categoría perfectamente. Debemos admitir que Paulo Coelho no tiene una tinta muy fuerte para definir a personajes con mayor profundidad y personalidad, pero eso no le quita el encanto al 100% a la obra. Lo cierto es que me ha dejado un muy buen sabor en la boca y una buena sensación en el cuerpo, podría decirte que hasta me ha servido para tener una visión más positiva del mundo y de mis propios propósitos, así que mi puntuación final son 4.1 estrellas de 5.
Honestly I found it an inspiring novel, where without a doubt I have been able to get dozens of phrases that have awakened in me the spirit of wanting to eat the world, to help, to love and to keep dreaming. Although it is a fairly short story, the truth is that it always manages to leave you with something.
It is a book that is very enjoyable, especially because it allows you to dream, but of course, if you are skeptical about the whole subject of spirituality or you don't like it at all, his work will seem very simple or a waste of time from the beginning. In my case it was the opposite.
I have always liked the idea of understanding that the universe works in our favor and that as long as we are aligned with it we can achieve many things. This is the message that the book really conveys, in fact, it is one of the phrases it repeats the most: "the whole Universe conspires so that you can achieve your dreams".
Yes, it is a fairly simple reading, we could pass it off as a children's story and it would fit the category perfectly. We must admit that Paulo Coelho does not have a very strong ink to define characters with more depth and personality, but that does not take away 100% of the charm of the work. The truth is that it has left a very good taste in my mouth and a good feeling in my body, I could tell you that it has even helped me to have a more positive view of the world and my own purposes, so my final score is 4.1 stars out of 5.

Es bastante conocido el hecho de que éste autor ha recibido muchísimas críticas negativas con respecto a su trabajo, desde que es un simplista hasta la peor vejación que se le pueda atribuir a un escritor. Esto inevitablemente causa un rechazo colectivo y es lo que genera que tantas personas (aún sin haber leído sus libros) lo descarten de una conversación. Logrando eventualmente que se produzca la falacia ad hominem contra su trabajo, es decir, desprestigiar todo lo que ha hecho sólo porque viene de parte de él.
¿Qué todo esto está correcto? Me parece que no. Si bien existen criticas validas que son fundamentadas desde el respeto. Lo cierto es que muchas personas y entre ellas, escritores, se han encargado de dar su opinión de la peor manera. Lo quieras o no es una persona que está dedicando su vida a la escritura y eso implica tiempo y trabajo.
¿Sus obras son excepcionales? También me parece que no, están en un punto medio en dónde no es ni muy malo ni extremadamente bueno. Simplemente se ha adaptado a lo que él conoce por experiencia y sabe manejar de primera mano, algo simple y entendible para el lector.
It's pretty well known that this author has received a lot of negative reviews regarding his work, from being a simpleton to the worst vexation that can be attributed to a writer. This inevitably causes a collective rejection and is what causes so many people (even without having read his books) to dismiss him from a conversation. Eventually achieving the ad hominem fallacy against his work, that is, discrediting everything he has done just because it comes from him.
That all this is correct? It seems to me that it is not. While there are valid criticisms that are based on respect. The truth is that many people, including writers, have taken it upon themselves to give their opinion in the worst way. Whether you like it or not, he is a person who is dedicating his life to writing and that implies time and work.
Are his works exceptional? I don't think so, they are in a middle ground where he is neither very bad nor extremely good. He has simply adapted to what he knows from experience and knows how to handle first hand, something simple and understandable for the reader.
Que él se haya decantado por éste estilo de escritura no lo convierte en el anticristo de la literatura, simplemente trabaja con las herramientas en las que se mantiene cómodo.
Antes le tenía un poco de recelo al trabajo de éste escritor, fundamentaba mis ideas a través de las opiniones de los demás. Pero lo cierto es que luego de leer El Alquimista me di cuenta de la propia falacia que yo estaba cometiendo. Existen mejores escritores en el mercado, evidentemente, pero las obras de él son tan disfrutables y validas como las de cualquier otro.
Aunque quisieras medirlo de esa forma, realmente no sabremos determinar qué es bueno y qué es malo debido a la diversidad de gustos que existe en cada individuo a nivel mundial. Así que es mejor ahorrarse la migraña expidiendo odio contra algo que no te gusta y simplemente cerrar el libro para disfrutar de algo más.

I used to be a little suspicious of this writer's work, I based my ideas on the opinions of others. But the truth is that after reading The Alchemist I realized the very fallacy I was committing. There are better writers in the market, obviously, but his works are as enjoyable and valid as those of any other.
Even if you wanted to measure it that way, we won't really know how to determine what is good and what is bad because of the diversity of taste that exists in each individual worldwide. So it's better to save yourself the migraine by spewing hate against something you don't like and just close the book to enjoy something else.
