Hello reading community! I hope you are very well, for this review I bring you the second book I have read so far this year, it is ¨Crónica de una muerte anunciada¨ by Gabriel García Márquez. The story is about a man who returns to a town where 28 years ago the murder of Santiago Nazar occurred at the hands of the Vicario brothers for revenge for the dishonor of his sister Angela Vicario.

Espero se encuentren muy bien, para esta reseña les traigo el segundo libro que he leído en lo que va de año, se trata de ¨Crónica de una muerte anunciada¨ de Gabriel García Márquez. La historia va sobre un hombre que regresa a un pueblo en donde hace 28 años ocurrió el asesinato de Santiago Nazar a manos de los hermanos vicario por venganza de la deshonra de su hermana Angela Vicario.

To begin with, it is a book with a pretty straightforward title, it leaves you with nothing in doubt and yet it generates a big question How could so many people know about the near death of Santiago Nazar and yet no one prevented it? The book is not about a mystery, from the beginning it is made clear the intentions of the vicar brothers and their motives, everybody hears about the news, but nobody really does anything, Ignorance? Disinterest? What is the real reason why people see and hear things that will happen in advance and still we do nothing to prevent it? In the book we are shown how some people think that ¨Nothing will happen because they would not be able¨ others say ¨Surely someone else already warned them¨ The whole story is based on a series of assumptions that ends in the inevitable death of Santiago Nazar.
Reading other people's reviews, I saw that they even relate him to Christ himself. First they paint the character as someone bad and who committed a terrible act, everyone knows what will happen to him but no one does much, and once it happens everyone feels bad for not having done something when they had the chance. I would never have thought of such a comparison on my own, but I still find it quite interesting.
Para empezar, es un libro con un título bastante directo, no te deja nada en dudas y aún así te genera una gran pregunta ¿Cómo pudieron tantas personas saber sobre la muerte cercana de Santiago Nazar y aún así nadie la evitó? El libro no va sobre un misterio, desde un principio se deja claro las intenciones de los hermanos vicario y sus motivos, todos escuchan sobre la noticia, pero nadie hace realmente nada ¿Ignorancia? ¿Desinterés? ¿Cuál es el verdadero motivo por el cual las personas vemos y escuchamos cosas que pasaran con anticipación y aún así no hacemos nada para impedirlo? En el libro nos muestran como algunas personas piensan que ¨Nada sucederá porque no serían capaces¨ otros dicen ¨Seguramente alguien más ya les avisó¨ Toda la historia se basa en una serie de suposiciones que termina en la inevitable muerte de Santiago Nazar.
Leyendo reseñas de otras personas, vi que lo relacionan incluso con el mismo Cristo. Primeo te pintan al personaje como alguien malo y que cometió un terrible acto, todos saben lo que sucederá con él pero nadie hace gran cosa, y una vez que ocurre todos se sienten mal por no haber hecho algo cuando tenían oportunidad. tal comparación jamás se me hubiera ocurrido por mi cuenta, aún así me parece bastante interesante.
Although I understand why this book is so recognized and well rated, I'm more of those who give a score as for how it makes you feel a reading and what it leaves you rather than a question of technique or writing (which is valid), I just found it a read more, It is a short book but it was a little hard to read, there were parts that were long and I even felt disappointed, but I think that happened because I had a wrong idea of what the book really is, I had another expectation, I thought that the title would take the story on another path, it was just not a book for me.
¿Por qué sólo 2 estrellas?
A pesar de que comprendo el por qué este libro es tan reconocido y bien calificado, soy más de las que dan un puntaje como por el como te hace sentir una lectura y lo que esta te deja más que por una cuestión de técnica o escritura (lo cual es válido), simplemente me pareció una lectura más, es un libro corto pero me costó un poco leerlo, habían partes que se me hacían largas y hasta me llegué a sentir decepcionada, pero pienso que eso paso porque tenía una idea errónea de lo que es el libro en realidad, tenía otra expectativa, pensé que el titulo llevaría la historia por otro camino, simplemente no fue un libro para mi.
Aún no he leído este libro así que poco puedo opinar, pero habiendo leído otras obras del autor puedo decir que realmente hay algunas lecturas suyas que se hacen pesadas. En mi caso, fue «El coronel no tiene quien le escriba» el que me hizo sentir lo mismo que describes tú con éste libro, fue una lectura más.
Sin embargo, no sé puede negar el talento de García Márquez, aunque no todas las historias sean para mí.

Justo así, no es el tipo de libro que suelo leer pero no niego que tanto el libro como el autor merecen el reconocimiento que tienen.
