The Bloodline Warriors: Shadow written by L.J Red is a quinet, but with other sequels coming up. This quinet revolves around the vampire and human race. How they both co-exist together and how they were mixed up in a war caused by a greedy vampire which was not supposed to happen.
The first book in this quinet is titled, "Vampire Mate". Now this book revealed how the vampire's Shadow came to be. There are some groups of vampires who sacrificed their lives, bloodlines and everything to be a warrior. They are like the people who keep the Vampires in check and aware of law and order in their world. They are much stronger, faster, deadlier and fierced. When they move, they bend the shadows around and they appear vague. The Shadows are feared and highly respected.
Lucian, the leader of the shadow, was caught up in the middle of a war orchestrated by the leader of the Radiance bloodline, Roman. A power-hungry vampire. He was hell bent on making sure the Shadow warriors cease to exist. His agenda was to destroy them all and be the most power vampire in the world. Dana, a Chicago police detective, was also caught up in the war when she discovered two deadly vampires plotting on how to ambush the shadow. So she went to the Vampire sanctuary to warn them but she got to deliver the message directly to Lucian, leader of the Shadow, without knowing who he was.
Dana and Lucian got connected with a bond so strong that they both couldn't resist each other. Though Lucian didn't believe in soulmate not until he met Dana, everything changed for him. Now he was willing to never let anyone to go close to his mate and he intended to possess every part of her. As they both worked together to catch the Villain, they encountered some hardship but in the end, did they catch the villain?
The second book titled, "Chosen Mate" is a book that further revealed more plans of the villain for a war coming. This book focused on Neal, the second in command to Lucian. Neal, an ancient Scottish vampire, who has seen a lot of battles and fought them. Back in the decade he thought he fell in love with a human woman but got his heart broken so he vowed not to open his heart to love anyone.
May, a human woman made Neal break the vow, she lost control when she realised she was his soulmate. Neal got to bond with her in the far north of Canada where a conclave meeting was being held. A meeting of Elders of all the bloodlines coming together. The villain striked by using Neal's longtime human ex as a puppet to perpetrate evil by endangering May's life and other vampires the shadow sworn to protect with their lives. Neal had to choose who to save and his soulmate came first. The bond between them was sensual, hot and unbreakable.
The third book titled, "Enemy Mate" featured Talon and Eden together. Talon, the shadow's assassin, with wild rage, sheer strength and violence had already made up his mind that he would never find a soulmate and he was going to throw himself into battle and let his rage get the hold of him. Unknown to him, when he went for a mass killing at their enemies' domain (Radiance bloodline) he met Eden. A lady who was turned into a vampire by force and treated as a toy. Eden and her sister Hope were staying with the Radiance bloodline with no choice of going anywhere.
Talon was pained that his soulmate was part of their enemies' bloodline, but in the end, he saved her and they both fought together to defeat their enemies. Now Eden and her sister are free and they belong to a bloodline that them welcomed with warmth and love.
The fourth book titled, "Warrior mate" was about Rune, an ancient warrior with the attributes of a true viking who has lived hundreds of years waiting for his soulmate. Rune was known for his strength, control, coordination and loyalty. He always finds it difficult to associate with the humans and with all things be good, a human woman, Dana's best friend Brigit was the soulmate he had been waiting for all those years.
Rune volunteered to work closely with Brigit in order to take out their enemies who kidnapped someone so dear to Brigit named Sparrow. Along the way, Rune always says the wrong things to Brigit trying to let her know he was her soulmate but didn't believe in any of that. Brigit is a warrior, fierced, strong and always the first person into danger. So Rune had understood all her principles and he honored them. Together, Rune and Brigit were formidable.
The fifth book, titled "Saved Mate" focuses on Jacob , the youngest of the Shadow elite warriors. His family was killed by human vampire hunters when he had just been made a vampire. This had made him into an icy man with a cold heart and extreme control. As civilization came in the human vampire hunters now call themselves "HUNT". Jacob has vowed within himself that he would destroy them all for the pain they caused him.
The "HUNT" were experimenting on vampires to create more deadly weapons and the shadows, elite warriors raided their main domain and there Jacob got connected to his soulmate with one of the victims named Sparrow. Sparrow, a woman who was made to be a vampire not from her free will, spotted Jacob and her vampire cold heart started to beat again. All the victims were rescued and taken to the shadow's sanctuary for protection, but unknown to them Roman the leader of the Radiance bloodline was behind all the experiments. He plans to use all the victims to bring down the elite warriors right within their territory. Sparrow got caught in the war, but Jacob stood by her all through and never let her go.
Was Roman defeated at the end? Were the elite destroyed according to his plan? Well you have to read the books to find out and I can promise that these books are worth reading.

Well, vampires are not my favorite characters but this saga looks interesting, I think I would at least read one book...I like that it involves romance, action and adventure within the plot, books like that are usually exciting.
