Hello book loving community! Today I want to bring you a recommendation and review of this book. Its author, John KatzenBach, is one of the best-selling crime novel authors in the world. You may remember his most famous work - The Psychoanalyst. And since I liked this book so much I wanted to give a chance to “The Psychopaths Club” which is less known.
¡Hola comunidad amante de los libros! Hoy quiero traerles una recomendación y reseña de este libro. Su autor, John KatzenBach, es uno de los autores más vendidos de novela negra en el mundo. Quizá recuerden su obra más famosa: El psicoanalista. Y como este libro me gustó tanto quise darle una oportunidad a “El club de los psicópatas” que es menos conocido.
Synopsis/Sinopsis
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Easy call themselves Jack's Boys, in honor of Jack the Ripper. They only know each other through a chat room on the Dark Web where they share their true passion: being murder artists. When Connor and Niki break into the intimacy of their chat room, the fury of these psychopaths begins to grow and they will stop at nothing. With fierce intelligence, Jack's Boys plot revenge on the two teens and their families. However, Connor and Niki are not like the rest of the victims of these serial killers. The nightmare begins and there are only two options: to be hunted or to survive.

A few months ago I was thinking of buying a book a little different from what I was reading, I love horror books, and I came across an interesting offer of two books by this author (The Psychopaths Club and Blind Trust). Since I had already read The Psychoanalyst before, I said: why not? I really expected a lot from them and, although I liked Blind Trust better in comparison, the other one is not far behind. An interesting book to read, where technology turns against the lives of a couple of families and exposes the horror behind the Dark Web.
Hace unos meses estaba pensando en comprar un libro algo diferente a lo que venía leyendo, me encantan los libros de terror, y me topé con una oferta interesante de dos libros de este autor (El club de los psicópatas y Confianza ciega). Como antes ya había leído El psicoanalista, dije: ¿por qué no? Realmente esperaba mucho de ellos y, aunque en comparación me gustó más Confianza ciega, el otro no se queda muy atrás. Un libro interesante para leer, donde la tecnología se pone en contra de la vida de un par de familias y nos expone el horror detrás de la Dark Web.
The plot begins with the most childish idea, surfing the Dark Web a teenager stumbles upon a chat room of a group of murderous psychopaths who mock their crimes: “Jack's boys” (a name that alludes to Jack the Ripper, a famous serial killer who was never discovered). The boy, who has a user who goes by the name Socgoal02, mocks them and the central theme of their conversations. The group panics and is so furious that they begin to plan the perfect crime: to kill the teenager. It doesn't take them long to figure out who the boy is and who the people he lives with are. However, when everything goes wrong, a vengeance that has no limits begins and exposes the issue of privacy in an era dominated by technology, when on the other side of the screen there is someone who wants to hurt us.
La trama comienza con la más infantil idea, navegando por la Dark Web un adolescente da por casualidad con un chat de un grupo de psicópatas asesinos que se mofan de sus crímenes: “Los muchachos de Jack” (nombre que alude a Jack el destripador, famoso asesino en serie que jamás fue descubierto). El chico, que tiene un usuario que se hace llamar Socgoal02, se burla de ellos y del tema central de sus conversaciones. El grupo entra en pánico y es tanta la furia que provoca que estos comienzan a planear un crimen perfecto: matar al adolescente. No les cuesta mucho descubrir quién es el muchacho y quiénes son los seres con los que vive. Sin embargo, cuando todo sale mal comienza una venganza que no tiene límites y que deja al descubierto el tema de la privacidad en una era dominada por la tecnología, cuando del otro lado de la pantalla hay alguien que nos quiere hacer daño.
If there is something I like about this writer is his ability to enter into the minds of sinister, psychopathic beings and find in their corners the most twisted essence of humans. In this novel he exposes the personalities of these men in a magnificent way. It highlights morality and justice, and questions it. It also gives us a warning of the digital footprint that we all leave on the internet almost without realizing it and that can compromise our privacy. It is an addictive book that I recommend without hesitation.
Si hay algo que me gusta de este escritor es su capacidad para entrar en la mente de seres siniestros, psicópatas, y hallar en sus rincones la esencia más retorcida de los humanos. En esta novela se expone las personalidades de estos hombres de manera magnífica. Pone en relieve la moral y la justicia, y la cuestiona. Además nos da una advertencia de la huella digital que todos vamos dejando en internet casi sin darnos cuenta y que puede comprometer nuestra intimidad. Es un libro adictivo que recomiendo sin dudar.

Parece espeluznante; sacar lo peor del ser humano suele ser extremadamente terrorífico en el comportamiento.

Por cómo lo describes, suena a que te atrapa desde la primera página! Me llama mucho eso de mezclar la Dark Web con asesinos que se inspiran en Jack el Destripador. Me da curiosidad si el autor profundiza en el trasfondo de los psicópatas o si se queda en lo superficial para mantener el suspenso.
El libro está escrito desde la perspectiva de estos asesinos en serie, se mete en su mente y te describe cada pensamiento, compulsión, anhelo, su forma retorcida de ser y cómo se burlan de la sociedad y en especial de la policía, camuflándose entre los ciudadanos comunes. También describe a la familia y lo que piensan de ella, su trabajo, toda su rutina. Es muy interesante leerlo.
