RE: Clarimonde by Théophile Gautier (ENG-SPA)

An enjoyable read, I enjoyed it in one sitting. The mentions of Venice reminded me of the adventures of The Pastry Chef of Madrigal, a historical novel that I enjoyed at the time for all the incredible twists, although it seems to have enough historical support to make it more interesting.
A unique play on words, the name of the beloved, a subtle reference to the clear empty shell loved by Romualdo. Without a doubt, Don Juan Tenorio would face the situation in other terms.

“I cried out to heaven, and it did not hear me.
But if it closes its doors to me,
for my steps on Earth
let heaven answer, not me.”
― José Zorrilla, Don Juan Tenorio

Until the next suggestion. A big hug.

I'm glad you liked it! Yes, your references reveal worthy intellectuals from a good time. Good literature calms or disturbs our souls, as the case may be. For now, we are waiting, my friend, for the next readings.

Greetings.
